Something similar in my area.

If burning brush or the like, limited to 3' x 5'.

If having a party/bonfire....no limit. Just need to have a pack of hotdogs ready incase they show up. And They always want to know when you will be starting and stopping.

Personally, I graduated with one of the locals. I just call him and let him know what I am doing incase they get any calls. Never had any issues. Around here it isnt uncommon for people to burn brush frequently. Similar to hearing gunshots. No one gives it a second though.

The township I'm in just wants a call before you start and once your done. They ask your name, address, and a phone number. Then burn away! I think its mainly to cut down on the unnecessary dispatching of the fire department?

Check your codes on fire rings and fire pits.
My city requires any property under 2 acres to get a permit to burn. I got tired of messing with the permit system so reviewed the code. If the fire is in a fire pit or fire ring no permit is required. The code does not say what size the ring should be. So I have a fire ring 15ft in diameter. I burn when I want and no gov nonsense.

DNR - Burn Permits

Don't know if there is anything useful at that link.

They don't inspect piles here. Have to apply for the permit on the day it will be used. They like fires started around dusk and out by midnight.

If the wind is low, snow on the ground, I'd light that sucker. It is a big pile. You might make life easier on yourself by burning small "campfires" frequently.

I'm just say'in....pile looks tender dry, really big and like it would get very hot very quickly, thus a high flame, thus quite a wind locally generated by the fire, which could take burning embers very high in the air to fall on those conifers, some distance away, likely not on your property, which might start a secondary fire assuming those conifers burst into flame as easily as they do here in Texas. Then, again, snow all around, cold temps, low wind, it could all work out just fine.

Let us know ... and I'm curious exactly how high the flames rise when you do light it off.

"Burning of any pile larger than 5'X5'X3' requires approval by the local fire chief or his designated" (sic)

Did you know that before?

Seems if there is a rule which allows you to burn 5x5x3 you could have made a bunch of 5x5x3 piles.

It is composed of 100% brush and lumber and there is NOTHING in it that violates the burning regulations....NOTHING!!!

Here we can burn logs, limbs, and twigs but not lumber.

"In areas where burning is allowed, only natural vegetation grown on the property and small amounts of paper necessary to start a fire can be burned."

Sounds like a volunteer dept. career departments don't "close" ever. 24-7. Honestly if I got the call to inspect your pile and you were being nasty like you are in this thread, I'd ding you for having lumber in the pile. You would need to break it apart so I can insure your not burning pressure treated wood which is against ALL outdoor burning regs. You get more flys with honey. Next time you see some guys at the station stop by with some ice cream I cookies and introduce yourself. I'd bet they would look out for you in the future
