How Much Money do you Charge to Snow Blow / Plow a Yard

I do my neighbors for free. He dropped $20 for fuel. Only 100ft of asphalt. Usual fee by other is $30 per drive. Most drives are 55ft double around here.
We do not get a lot of snow here. Usually 3-4" a few times per year. Occasionally 8-12"

PILLON is right, it's about $1.00 a minute with a $20.00 minimum,
Remember, having a contract for the season will hold you to having this kept clean "even if your machine breaks down", so I personally stay away from contracts.
I usually leave them my number and tell them to call me when you need me, if they leave for work early, I will plow at night so their drive is clear and collect the next day, even if they didn't call that night.
If they don't pay, no problem, I tell them don't bother calling me again.Word of mouth is the best advertising
and you could always have your number on your machine.
No contracts, no receipts and cash only is how I would do it, give them a fair price and tell them your retired and do this for beer money,lol

I ask $35 per time,, dont do it unless at least 3 inches of snow

yup same here $35/residential drive/event billed every month no contract.

Thanks for the info guys, I prefer not to charge at all, and just be neighborly and help out as needed. But as mentioned a couple of people want me to be their regular Plow guy. I'm in a rural area and driveways are larger, so the $1.00 / minute plan may be the best all around plan for me and the home owner.

Being neighborly is great when moving snow. They often will repay in kindness when you least expect it. You can do it when it is convenient for you and not miss any sleep, meals or work. And if they don't like your timing or methods they can get someone else to do it and all the neighbors remain friends.

Where I am from, if they were charging 35$ / per driveway each time, I would be broke and the snow contractor would be millionaire. On a big sno day sometime he plows my 3 to 4 time, just the basic so we can get out of the driveway, less than 5 min. And once the snow or storm stop, he comes by the next day for a good overall cleaning.

Does your insurance allow you to work for pay? If not, then don't advertise it and do NOT accept checks for payment. I do the neighbourly thing and do it for free or pies and cookies. Occasionally one of the neighbours drops me a jerry can of fuel.

I can see doing it for free as long as your own kids/family are concerned, but doing a bunch of neighbors as well all winter long at no cost, although very generous of some of you, can quickly eat a hole into your wallet unless you recover the cost of fuel from them. Never mind wear and tear.
