25 this morning and headed to 33 today. Guess who gets to hang another closet organizer. Hung one in master br closet. She liked it so much she bought another. Said I want half added in the master closet and other half added in utility room. Ok dear I'll see when I can get to it.

Good call - shagbark hickory it appears to be ... :thumbsup:

Interesting stuff ... the sap has an orange tint ... and the wood itself seems to have the density and weight of concrete when green (or orange ) Smokes like mad when burned unseasoned.

29 heading to 41, maybe even see a little sun later. Got some more snow overnight - les than an inch.

Ended up taking my son to the orthopedic doctor yesterday - slightly torn shoulder tendon due to a skateboard accident. He got a nice blue sling out of it. Then we went for Tex-Mex, so all is better.

Drew, c'mon...let's get #5000 posted pronto.

Not much happening here,least day light little longer than month ago and one day closer to spring.

Yes kinda of quiet here getting ready for work bride is sleeping. She goes for morning exercise I go to work. Since I've been off a couple of days hung a new picture we got and helped with chores around house. Nothing special being with her is enough. Hopefully we can eek out another 38 together

Looks like more rain coming Sunday after our little snow (does half inch even count)

Maybe something more interesting for the next weekend weather wise

Not the (gas, forced-air) one in the house ...

Did some maintenance on the double-barrel wood stove up in the shop day before yesterday though ...

Had some ash/creosote fall down into the elbow that connects the chimney to the stove, almost plugging it completely. Replaced that elbow which was pretty flakey, cleaned out the top barrel, installed a fiberglass gasket on the barrel lid and swept the chimney ...

Still need to install a gasket on the bottom barrel lid, fix the gaskets on the doors (with the right size gasket material), and build a new grate ...

Having the house be a little on the chilly side is one thing, having the shop be so is another matter entirely.

A guy's got to have his priorities ...

39˚ cloudy again. Inside 70˚ with the wood burning stove being the only source of heat, day 16, for the house (except for a space heater by the shower when used). I'll be running out of wood today so I have a priority project.

This is the longest cold spell I can remember hitting in the 30s each day (except one) since the first.

Looks like tomorrow will be the prime morning to burn brush piles, wind at 2mph. No permit required. If it gets out of control I'll run to the fire station, grab a truck and extinguish it. That's how it's done in rural Texas Bill. People in Michigan sure are dependent on others a lot.

28 this morning and headed to 36. School is closed today. Northern part of county has an inch of snow. Roads are terrible. Looks like one may have been killed on a road a county north of me. Still say we could see a dusting.

Wife's home today. May just spend day with her and boy.

Happy Anniversary Buppies! Wishing you another 38.

Goofy people in Maine, say it ain't so. :laughing: I'm afraid we are well-stocked in that department. Haven't seen the TV show. When we lived in Wells on the tourist route I used to kill a few hours now and then "junking" from one antique emporium to the next. Never found much very exciting. One of my brothers collects old metal pie tins with the bakery names stamped into the bottom. I found a few to add to his collection, that made a nice gift.

19F & cloudy. Maybe some light snow flurries this afternoon.
