One year I had a neighbor complain when my pile was a little large. So I built a smaller smokey fire on a big stump and kept it going for 12 weeks. Ordinarily I would dig the stump and burn it on top of the pile. The guy complained even though the fire was about 3000' from his house and the smoke going the other way. There are no regs against a smoldering fire where I am, you just can't ADD wood after dusk. I followed the regs so no one could say anything.

Ever since I have not received a complaint from him, and my fires are done in 24 hrs. That is a lot better than 12 weeks for both of us.

The OP's last activity was Tuesday PM.

We can only speculate as to his absence from TBN.

Due to some of the "advice" he received here, he may have been arrested for burning prior to inspection.
