FWIW...

Some myths about speed tests and connection speeds:

citation: Popular Myths about Internet Speed | OneStopClick

Seems something is wonky with your connection- a bunch of words you typed turned into gibberish?!:confused2:
Note, I'm not making any claims as to what it can do- but I do know that the amount I'm paying and the connection I now have is commensurate with what I should have received, but never did previously, over 50 year old buried copper lines. The fiber is ALL new everything with aerial run transmission and in most cases drops too. Some towns specked buried only.

If it is a COMMUNITY RENEWAL PROGRAM GRANT, then it's apparently been available since 1965

I believe it came from the revitalization programs of recent years; I'm not sure of the exact name; all I really care about is I have it at my house.

Wow, from the slums of 7 mb, I tip my hat.

Thanks! I have a house/land/pond for sale next door, truly. PM me if interested. The price just went up big time though with the fiber connection!

I wish I could just get 10% of that.

With moving, I just went from 20M (with ability to go up to 50M) roadrunner, down to 6M DSL:mur:

I really wanted TWC. It was cheaper than my current Direct TV and DSL setup, with faster internet. I am only 1300' off the main state route down a little side road. They said $19,500 and they could do it for me:laughing:

Comcast quoted me 12k to hook up in Washington... can't use cell... so it's dial up or Sat

Here in Oakland CA my connection is a whopping 1.3 Mbps down and .30 up...

We've had 10g between sites for about 3 years. 1g to the desktops. But that's commercial, not home.

You can thank me for your internet speed and I'll thank you for some government trees I got many years ago.

Keep the trees, I'll take the speed. I was thinking of moving to the warm islands, it's a balmy -15 tonight, but now they'll have to pry my cold dead fingers from my FO modem!:shocked:

When your eyes burn out from the excessive adult content, you can always listen to music.

What he said.

You don't mention how much you're paying or if there is a data cap. My speed is fast enough to stream HD Netflix, anything beyond that is a diminished return.

I'm not paying ANY increase over the 24Meg I supposedly had before on copper paired DSL. It usually ran around 1.5-2.5 Meg in my area.
$35/mo. I doubt anybody can beat that price for residential, anywhere in the country.

/pine can say whatever he wants, doesn't change a thing. 1Gig service is just that, WAY more than any cable or dish type provider provides to any area, especially a rural one. Eat your heart out - VT is where it's at, once again! YAHOO!

Maybe I'll go wireless laptop to my tractor too! :confused3::drink:

I am 62 miles from the nations capital as the crow flies.

I have no fiber, DSL, cable or 4g LTE sustained offering in my area. There are two fiber trunks within a 1/2 from our location and multiple cable, DSL runs within a mile.

We are part of the strategy for the last mile, wireless. I wonder how many in the nation fit into that category?

It's pretty pathetic to not have "cable" plus like speeds standard through out every household in the nation.

The Penguin?! Has to be some derogatory term for Obama....
Well he delivered, in VT as promised, can't speak to your issues in Maine. (And I do own property there too - full disclosure).

The Penguin is our unfortunate governor. :)
