It is true that when you buy a house these days, connection speed is a factor. Higher speeds actually improve the value, or at least help sell it.
Absolutely right! I called VTel on and off for about 5 years inquiring of their back end engineering group begging for DSL service. One time I called and they finally said they would be willing to see if they could get a decent signal to me. I was over 19,5xx+ feet from the switch. They had said forever it was too far from the switch. I told them to bring another switch closer, that unless we had DSL service our real estate, among other things was basically worthless because people would make their buying decisions based on what was available to their homes.
Then came 911, and in the aftermath people were flocking to the remote areas near me to get away from places like NYC and Boston. We had DSL by then, and people started dumping serious $ into farmland and building monster houses with their big city money. So DSL played a big part in making my area what I refer to as New Jersey north.:confused3::thumbdown:
Heck CM you can probably read this before I even write it. How much to install?
Murph I read it before you even thought about writing it!:laughing:
Install cost, now that's where it becomes a real possible snag;
now wait for it......
cost of install:
*FREE!!!!
* But only for me Murph; that's right, with one exception I'm the first with fiber in my area, with some guy who's the editor of some PC magazine having got the jump on me. He's lucky to have gotten there first, but you know how pushy the folks from elsewhere can be.
Fact is it's FREE upgrade to ALL VTel customers!
In the city I have Comcast 100mbs cable modem. The land that we will be moving too has 4G LTE only so every bit will be metered
Yikes, Comcast, had it in my CT home. It's also available down on the paved highway at the end of my road. They'll NEVER come up my road now that VTel brought fiber. I dislike Comcast immensely for a whole bunch of reasons too lengthy to detail here.
Where you move to demand they bring similar service through your legislature. The more potential customers who make it an issue, the more it will become available.
