One of my other hobbies is woodworking and starting to get back to metalworking. Would love to retire someday to teaching kids hands on skills. Here is my latest project. My wife is very happy.:)

That is some beautiful work. My wife would be very happy if I could do that also. I don't have any of those tools either.

Nicely done,tkappeler.
I especially like your butterfly repair.
Some would consider it a distraction but you have my approval.

Thanks. Never did butterflies before. Did four practice pieces and then jumped right in.

Very nice! Is that cherry?

Pecan (hickory) and the legs are thermal ash. Think baseball bat kiln dried till it changes color, gets even harder as it has every bit of resin and moisture cooked out. The dark chocolate color is all the way through.

Not much of a woodworker myself.

I curse the stuff all the time when doing something and it split or breaks and I cannot weld it back together

Norm called them dutchman's but in highschool they were butterflys, but you did a great job for sure! Did you use glue or a slow epoxy with sawdust to stick them inplace?
