I was in Costco today and saw that they have Feit dual-tube 48" LED shop fixtures on sale ($8 instant rebate) through Feb. 22 for $31.99. Very bright. I picked up four, and will probably go back for more. I have quite a few 48" fluorescent fixtures in my shop that I've gradually been retrofitting with T-8 bulbs and new ballasts. But LED fixtures for $32 have me thinking that's not worth the candle!

Was looking at LED's today at HD and noticed there was a huge difference in light output among "60W" replacements--they ranged from around 500 up to almost 900. Check the lumens before you buy!

The are LED - 60 watt equivalent. Just re-read my 8550 manual an it says 100 watt incandescent or CFL equivalent. It says nothing at all about LED bulbs. The remote works from 300 yards away!

I was quoting page 12 of the online manual that may be either older or newer than yours.

The 8 lights in my shop and 1 in the kitchen have all been retrofitted with electronic ballasts and T-8 bulbs. Home Depot has just the LED bulbs that would make it easy to change, but two of them cost more than an entirely new light fixture.

I have been replacing all my incandescent and CFL barn lamps with 8.5W [ 60 equiv ] 5000K 890 lumen LED bulbs. I got my first batch for about $6 a bulb off Amazon, but then they raised them up over $7 a bulb. Last two batches I bought off Ebay for $6 a bulb. I like the color output of the 5000K, switched my 4' fluorescent fixtures to that range years ago. As I get older the yellow color range does not work for me when I am trying to see to do something.... Also got tired of trying to see whilst the CFL's were still trying to warm up.... These Ebay bulbs come from Kalifornia and ship REAL FAST..!!

Do LED lights work in cold weather?

We bought some LED light fixtures for the utility room and love them. Bright instant light and supposed to use a lot less power. Now I'm thinking about putting them in my garage. The fluorescent ones in it now do not work well when it is cold.

Anybody have any experience?

I have been using LED's for some time in the walk in freezers and coolers when doing service work. Work great as they are "instant on" and the CFL's are real slow to warm up and the staff would not turn the lights off for that reason They are in and out several times a day.

We have 5 x 8ft. T-12 dual tube fixtures in the workshop. They hang at about 16ft. above floor so are a big PIA to replace tubes. I would like to replace with LEDS fixtures but, have yet to find any 8 ft. units to have a direct replacement. Can the 4ft. ones from COSTCO be mechanically connected together to create an 8 ft. fixture?

I bought a used rolling warehouse ladder, like the ones in the aisles at Home Depot, specifically for working on shop lights. I roll it up onto my 6' x 12' utility trailer, for extra height, and run tie down ratchet straps to all four corners for added stability.

We have 5 x 8ft. T-12 dual tube fixtures in the workshop.

Our 2 car garage has 2 of those 8 ft. T-12 fixtures. I really wish we didn't have those, but as along as they're working well, I'll wait awhile before changing those.
