I ended up with an icon for each on my desktop after install and I did the upgrade through Google Earth. I think they are separate.

Like in sketchup google doesn't seem to replace/overwrite the old program, it just leaves it up to you.

jcummins, I received a banner right above the sign up that said it was no longer required just click the link to download and install then use GEPFREE as the license key

I filled out the form yesterday but did not get any email. I just signed up again using the same info and got "You've already enrolled". There was a link there to click on to resend the key info. When I clicked that link I got the key via email immediately. Might be worth a try...

I get box to enter license key, but can't without a user name. If i try to register a user name, it asks for the key......

In the regular GE Tools/Ruler menu there is a button 'Upgrade to Pro'.

Under the tools tab at the top I only have: Ruler, GPS, and Enter Flight Simulator.
There is no upgrade option.

Under 'Tools' click on 'Ruler'. The 'Ruler' sub-menu is 'Line' 'Path' 'Pro'
Click on 'Pro' and it will offer to upgrade.
