L3130 Three Point Hitch Issue

Jim,
Planning to call a dealer tomorrow. Have 5 dealers within a 60 mile area. Someone should know. Was thinking, I wonder if there are screens like this in front of each control block. Something for a catastrophic failure and spewing parts downstream?

The dealer general response is if the strainer was in from the factory, it should be there. One service manager said it is just added insurance if something goes wrong upstream in the hydraulic system. Not a stock item-special order.

I guess you just got stuck with an oddball part failure. The question is, did you order the screen? If you decide to leave it out, as Clint Eastwood said, "Do you feel lucky...?"

Not feeling that lucky. Screen on order. Just have to pull rear hydraulic block and trans cover to reinstall. I should have the screen end of next week. They sure don't give them away. Probably .25 of steel screening-dealer price of $24.59.

I think I would have cleared and reformed the old one.

Thought about that. Didn't want to take a chance on it being brittle and coming apart to drop into the trans sump.

Picked up new screen the other day and installed yesterday. Did order new o-rings the same time. Now that I have been in the hydraulic block before, it is no big deal. Had the whole job done in an hour. Big thing is keeping everything clean. That screen is clamped between the trans cover and the rear hydraulic control block with an o-ring-doesn't look too secure, especially when the o-rings harden with age.

Hmm - Sounds like you were just unlucky. Must be that there are other screens waiting to break free and cause trouble.
