John I knew you wouldn't need chains 99 percent of the time...I thought about some studds and just leave them in all year, that would work well for the occasional time your dealing with ice..

If I ever buy another splitter it would have a log lift. I don't like crawling on the ground to split wood, I do have a Wally BXM-42 chipper/shredder for my Tractor.

Are you thinking of a manual log lift, or a hydraulic one? Split Second offers a manual one as an option.

How do you like the BXM-42? I assume you run it off of your Kioti or your Massey.

Do you have a link to that splitter? I like my wally fine. If it ever gets replaced I would go with hydraulic feed.

I would hesitate myself until I had clear instructions. I don't see what is going to hold those studs in place inside the seat. What is taking your dealer so long to give you a set of instructions ?? Did you look at My Ventrac ? I believe I would also ask for instructions on that web site - they have always been great and quick to respond.

I think that the natural springiness of the side panels, coupled with the keyways on the interior panels (which I can feel through the vinyl, but cannot see) and the perpendicular studs on the arm rests' shafts, keep the arm rests in place.

The dealership is a small (three-person) operation, and unfortunately one of the three has been out due to a death in the family, so I suspect that the remaining two have their hands full. I placed a follow-up call yesterday afternoon, but it was about a half-hour after the 4 P.M. closing time, so I left a voice-mail message.

I will look at My Ventrac. Thank you for the suggestion.

With best regards,

John

Can you feel the key way thru the seat?

I bet you insert it and turn it a certain way then it works either down at 9:00 or at up at noon.

How much do those run?

Each of the two keyways (one on each side of the seat) points toward the back, I believe. So, my impression is that after cutting into the vinyl side panels at the appropriate spots, one orients each arm rest so that it is pointing toward the rear of the tractor, and inserts it into the newly created hole, pushing it as far into the seat as possible. One then rotates the arm rest 90° counterclockwise if one wants the arm rest to be vertical (out of the way when getting in or out of the tractor, or 180° counterclockwise if one wants the arm rest to be horizontal (for use).

The arm rests for the standard set (which my tractor has) bear the Ventrac Part Number 47.0312 and cost $60 for the pair.

The suspension seat takes a different pair of arm rests. Those are more expensive than the ones for the standard seat. I understand that the suspension-seat arm rests include mounting brackets. I further understand that the arm rests for the standard seat are not compatible with the suspension seat, and vice versa.

Best,

John
