Probably won't happen as the US is just a portion of equipment sales. Most countries hike the taxes on gasoline as a wealth and luxury tax to make it more expensive than diesel . Most of the world also has less stringent emissions regulations .
As it's good business to keep prices down for the majority of the market. Simpler Diesel engines burning cheaper diesel fuel is the primary design and market.
As US wishes to price themselves out of the market with EPA regulations to make up for the rest of the world's pollution . Let the rich Americans with deep pockets pay for Tier IV emissions equipment and higher priced fuel.
If they are dim witted enough to pay for it, sock it to them.

.... Who is purchasing bulk quantities of diesel fuel for a CUT?

I don't want to give away all my secrets but you obviously need help "getting one over on the man". There are these grocery stores that also have fuel centers. They give you fuel points based on your purchases. I usually buy fuel at .60 - .90 off per gallon using points the wife racks up with her shopping ... so hey, may as well put that to use. They give you lets say a 40 gal. limit on the discount. So every time we rack up a decent discount, I get the limit in Diesel. Since it will keep just fine for long term storage, our two TDI's and my tractor use Diesel that was purchased at (or sometimes below) gassoline prices. My my TDI's get such good mileage they still save me money at CURRENT high diesel prices (without doing this trick) ... add what I just told you about buying Diesel at gas prices and throw that into the mix and surely you understand Diesel bought at gas prices = more BTU per $$$ than gas!

And I won't even get into how much it costs to take free french fry oil and turn it into biodiesel. I don't want to hear how you can't burn it in Tier IV diesels ... I can run whatever concentration I want in my 2002 (100% if I like) and B20 in my 2006 and it is safe to run B5 in the newest VW Diesels and the Jeep 3.0 will let you run up to B20 in it. Yet another way to save $$$ with Diesel if that is your goal. Go ahead and get arrested for making moonshine to compete with that. Moonshine costs more to make than biodiesel too when you are given the oil for free. So again, Diesel is the best fuel for tractor use.

Don't try this trick with gassoline. You'll end up with Ethanol sucking up water and then dropping out of solution over time and you'll have a huge mess on your hands ... do it only if you can use it all within 3 months.

Now let's roll out two otherwise identical 2015 VW vehicles. If I'm looking for a vehicle, it won't be old and rusty. One vehicle in gas and the other in diesel like 99.99999% of the rest of the population. who don't have a yard full of rancid restaurant oil tanks.
Which vehicle gas or diesel drives for less $$$ Per mile ? What the gas vehicle. Look at that , the gas started today at -15F while Bubba who still had some #2 summer diesel is jelled up.

Around here restaurants sell used oil to recyclers . I have run numbers anyways on used oil for use in simple old Lister or Petter diesels. By the time I accumulate the holding tanks, filters, pumps, centrufugal filter, lye and methanol. Then my time to gather the kill and process. The used oil is more expensive than $1.19 a liter pump diesel . The used oil is too cold to use from October until May.
Only discounts on fuel here is 10 to 16 times or something Canadian Tire coupons and now thier card. It's good for several hundred dollars per year. Bought a bunch of sod to finish the landscaping around the house. Always better if Mrs B&D is happy.
Shine is easier to make in an emergency than biodiesel.

... or make you a syngas gasifier and run a generator, (gas) tractor etc. off wood! Easier than shine or BD ... but shine has other 'benefits'

.. Lister or Petter diesels. ....

I wish I could find a Lister or Petter. Sounds like EPA killed them off. There are some India clones I read about once but I don't think you can import them to US anymore.

Don't think you didn't finance that meager fuel discount with hundreds upon hundreds of dollars worth of groceries. When you add it all up, your groceries were probably at a 8-10% discount, which isn't that great. Its better than nothing, but it isn't that great. I know because we do the same thing. Although we are limited to 15 gallon purchases at our grocery chain.

You're probably right, but it's a battle I can't win. Wife is going to shop where she wants to shop! I'm sure B&D would agree you have to keep the Mrs. happy.
