Your last generator Maintenance Run

It was 18F Sunday afternoon when we put another battery on the home gen set and thankfully it fired up and worked fine after setting for over a year but we cut the fuel and let it run dry each time. Very thankful the rain when to sleet then snow and we did not lose power.

Never a good time to lose power.... wintertime is just nasty though. Pushing -40 here lately.

Good to see your home gen is healthy. Have you had a chance to look at the MH gen again ?

Just installed a battery tender on my Honda EU3000is about a month ago. Did this after finally replacing the battery. Wired it to the battery with a quick disconnect. Started it up yesterday by key! Gotta love not having to pull the cord even if it IS a Honda! :D

Hondas typically pull-start easy/well.

That said, electric is convenient - I value having it on my larger gen, as I know that if I'm not home, I can talk just about anybody through electric starting, over the phone.

No on looking at the MH generator. I will turn over IF the MH engine is running but not off the house battery that shows to be good. When it get warm I want to trace out all of the wiring. I was starting OK off the house battery the last time it ran. We need to get the MH on the road and put some miles on it. :)

With the kids turning 18 this fall their schedules makes MH trips harder to pull off. If we did not have it up in such good shape with new like tires I would just sell it. The son states he wants it and since the kids have done so much work on it I will hand on to it for while. The daughter states she has no interest in it. :) The wife is not crazy about traveling but really likes having it as a back up home that can be set up about anywhere. This summer I plan to get both kids trained to drive it so I can gauge their interest.

I wish the generator engine had spark so I would be self contained if needed but we can look at that in a couple months when grading snow off the road will not be required. :)

Home generators have become common place. I have gone to full synthetic oil for extended run times. Monthly start and run checks, along with family member familiarity and training fully aids the preparedness and reduces the concerns, when it is needed.

There is no longer the question "What do we do now!"

Even my wife is no longer afraid of it.

Exactly. I travel a lot and want to make sure my better half can easily get emergency power if needed while I'm away. Now it is a simple pull choke, key turn, flip most breakers off, and flip the main to the aux power and she is good to go.

Due to the arthritis I am not the big jerk I use to be so if I own it I want the electric option. :)

I went out Monday evening and cranked up my generator getting ready for the coming storm. Cranked up on about the 10th pull or so. Not too bad since it had not been run in some time. Got 10 gallons of gas for back up. Thankfully our storm was sleet and no need to use it.
