Did Cabellas scam me? a

OP here. I spoke to a supervisor and she told me after apologizing many times that she had just received an internal memo that Cabalas would not be "forcing" PayPal credit on their customers due to numerous complaints. She apologized several more times. I think they stepped in it this time.

Her name is Melody and can be reached at the customer service number.

I have used PayPal for many years and this thing did not originate with PayPal.

No you can't. PayPal informed me that Cabellas is ONLY using PayPal credit now. Hmmm.

i shop cabelas all the time. i use my cabalas visa card. they dont need to take paypal

I don't guess I understand PayPal at all. Only had one experience with them and it was bad. I wasn't using it but the other guy involved in the transaction was. So I have always carefully avoided anything to do with PayPal. Maybe I'm wrong, and if so, maybe someone can tell me why you use PayPal at all.

i have used paypal for many many years. i have NEVER had a single issue with them. I also use their credit card processing service PaypalHere, and have run almost $100,000 in sales thru it without any issues. Personalli i love the system . they charge less than my bank, they include a free reader/processor (my bank wanted $399.00 for one), and they transfer funds to my bank within 24 hours.

heck, even home depot online takes paypal now. i purchase lots of stuff thru home depot for my business.

why would you want anyone else in charge of your credit card. If you use your CC then it is between you and the bank. I have never been held to a fraudulent charge on my card.

PayPal is an added risk. Now you are telling the bank someone else is authorized to use your card.
With all the data breaches I would never trust an org like PayPal with my info.
Make your own transactions and you will be covered by the bank.
When my CC is used online I get an email from the bank within minutes of the charge being made asking if it is legit.
When a charge is made that is not typical of my buying habits (i.e. I am in USA and charge in China is made the same day) I get a phone call.

I just bought some bullets on line from them ( no store anywhere near me) used my CC (not cabelas card) to make the purchase

The basis for my using PayPal is that there is only one entity with my credit card information. If you use a credit card with individual merchants, they each have your information and the possibility of them being hacked or having an unscrupluous employee escalates exponentially.PayPay still uses your credit card so you still have the credit card fraud protection.

Exactly.
I've bought well over 100+ items from Ebay and other sites that take PayPal.
None of the sellers have my credit card information, only PayPal does.
