The basis for my using PayPal is that there is only one entity with my credit card information. If you use a credit card with individual merchants, they each have your information and the possibility of them being hacked or having an unscrupluous employee escalates exponentially.PayPay still uses your credit card so you still have the credit card fraud protection.

PayPal has been hacked in the past and will be again. Identity theft is very difficult and costly to correct. When I had a bad card charge the bank denied the payment and sent me a new card. Try and argue fraud when you have given your information to another entity and they make the charges.
