We could be Brothers... Or past coworkers. I wrote assembly for 8080 & Z80's long, long ago. I had a PDP 11 in my basement taught myself DOS from combining what I knew of VMS & System 5 Unix. LOL.

I've worked at Intel, Dell, Oracle, Intergraph, DARPA, and many others (not in that order).

I love living in middle of nowhere.

And yes, the stove gets really warm!
:D
Be well bro!
David

I worked on Dec systems, including several PDP-11 variants. Mostly on DEA coordinate measurement machines. Then we switched to Zeiss machines in 83? A couple of different operating systems after that.

Bad day. Went to tighten up my pressure gage on my pumps system and the damm thing broke off. Water everywhere and its very cold out in the garage. Got a new gage from TSC and put it on. Started the system back up and it wouldn't come up to pressure and shut off. I was told to bleed the air out. Its tough being a city slicker in the country.

I am putting off doing some simple plumbing jobs until warm weather. Plumbing can suck, but doing it in the cold is much worse.

You need to open up faucets and run the system. Unless you have a bad pressure tank, or switch. I have a 40:60 switch. I think there are like a 20 : 50 ones, but I wanted the higher pressure one. The switches can go bad.

Larro, that looks really sandy. Do you need to add organic matieral or fertilizer?

That is our good river bottom land. You should see the garden here at the house if you want to see sandy. But seriously, in the low lying places where the river floods, we do have rich black dirt. Plus there was fertilizer put on the hayfiled every year. The longleaf's will do fine down there. Unless we do get a flood before they are very old.

The rain stopped and I got the rest of my seedlings planted. When I had done all the skips, I had a few left over. So I put them where trees had grown up in what used to be part of the hayfield.

I worked on a Ford Pinto in '71. :)

I still think of how much money I had to pay to buy a cutting edge 486DX25 computer...it still hurts. I actually sold a perfectly good J24 sailboat to pay for it. Ouch.

Would have worked on my poor mom's earlier cars but I was too young and had no tools or knowledge. Prior she had a mid 50's Pontiac, Studebaker, then a Rambler Ambassador.

It's currently 64° in SW Florida with a high of 82° today.

Stay warm my northern friends and have a good day. I'll see you Friday for a few days for some fun in the snow.

23 this morning and breezy high of 36 later today. Winter storm warning goes into effect this afternoon thru mid day tomorrow for heavy wet snow 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 depends on who you listen to. Those to the south of us will get more especially North Carolina so please be careful and 7 or 10 inches of heavy wet snow mean power outages. Good Morning

10 out, seems a warm up to 40 is the order of the day. Need it before another squall moves through.

Stay warm, everyone.

PDP's, hah, how about DECSystems 10 and 20's, followed by VAX11-780's, then the mini-VAXen, followed by Alpha's and Intels RISC chips. Got all that crap covered in the intel space. Just saw a job offer in Canada for PDP engineers. Seems they want to upgrade their nuke plants control systems. Yep!
