Probably worth half of that in scrap iron.. . . mechanically it is decent, the steering works well, has new rollers, and I figured the chain and sprockets appear to have about 40 + % left, at least in my opinion, that's why I was
interested in others opinion. Plus I only payed $3850.00 for it . . .
If that's all you paid for it, and it RUNS??? Don't worry about it.
As far as the U/C, your 40% is probably close. I doubt that the pins and bushings are tight enough to seize up, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.
Just FYI, proper terminology for dozer undercarriage is:
Rails. (not chains) The rail (each segment looks like a piece of railroad track, doesn't it) contains the wear surface, the pins and bushings, and provide an attachment point for the grouser pads. The complete rail with the grouser pads attached would be called the tracks.
Big pulley at the front is the idler.
Big pulley at the back with teeth is the sprocket. Sprocket teeth contact the bushings. That's what makes it move.
Little pulleys (top and bottom) are rollers.
