Well today was one of those days that reminds you that spring is just around the corner. Started out cold at -10F, but warmed up to a sunny 18*, which really felt pretty nice. Anyhow, Tim (TBN member TSO) dropped off my NX6010CH this afternoon, it was great meeting another TBN member and I was really glad Tim was able to get my new tractor here as quick as he did. First thing I did was get it inside and gave it a thorough washdown to eliminate some of the road grime from it's trip in from Michigan. While I'm glad I got this done, it turned out to be something of a nuisance since all the moisture from washing it in a warm area and then moving it back outside in cold weather caused some extreme moisture buildup on the inside windows, which quickly turned to a thick layer of frost after sunset. So I spent some time warming up the cab to melt the frost and wipe down the moisture. I can't get over the luxury of being inside a warm, quiet cab. After the sun went down, temps quickly dropped back into the single digits, but it was toasty inside. I'm really pleased with the way the tractor operates, but I did quickly run into 2 problems. Number one, after running the tractor for 30 minutes, I noticed that the engine temp gauge was still all the way down at cold. The needle moves with all the other gauge needles when the engine is first started, but it goes all the way back to cold even if the tractor is warm. I'll have to start chasing the wiring next warm day that comes along, hopefully its just a loose or disconnected wire and not a sensor. The second problem is that I went to hook up my snowplow, and discovered that because of the way I designed and built the plow mounting frame, I can't attach the plow on this tractor without modification. This is because I made the plow yoke with a tucked-under design, and there's a diagonal brace coming up on each side of the frame on the inside of the tractor's QA plates. This worked fine on the Mahindra, but the KL6010's tubular reinforcement bar is much closer to the tip of the loader, and it hits my plow braces preventing the quick attach from seating. Not actually a big deal, I just have to cut the braces off the plow frame and re-weld them at a steeper angle to clear the loader brace. Only problem is that there's snow coming tomorrow and tomorrow night, which means I'll need to plow on Monday morning. And I'm going to be gone most of the day tomorrow, I'll have to try to slip the project in somehow. No way I'm plowing with the Mahindra on Monday morning
Here's a pic, it was getting dark so it's not the greatest, but as they say, it didn't happen without pictures!
