Taxable/Assessed Value Appeals

:muttering:Yeah yeah rub it in why don't you. At least I don't have to import water.

One of the benefits of living in the Mojave desert is that we sit over a huge aquifer that has been unpoluted by civilization for the last million years or so. No industry or farming out here to polute it.

Clear pure sweet water from wells is all we need. :licking:

Do you ever fear the water board will be looking to tap that resource? Years ago the southwest floated the wacky idea of a water pipeline from Lake Michigan, so I figure anything is possible. With increased demand and scarcity plus politics, more things are possible.

Not likely in my location, but Cadiz Inc. which is located about 75 miles to the southeast of me in a different and much larger aquifer is pushing to do just that. Their plan is to sell water from their 45,000 acre property to Orange County. They plan to sell 50,000 acre feet of water per year from the aquifer that is estimated to hold 17 to 34 million acre feet. Thats more than Lake Mead!

Yeah, there's a lot of water in the desert.

Thanks. I didn't realize the Mojave Desert has huge aquifers below it.

I appealed in '10 and saw the new lower value on my '11 taxes. Butte County, California

Another reason I got the heck out of the SF Bay Area!

There is certainly no reason why the process can't be expedited if the Assessor chooses to do so.

Part of the reason the Assessor said it takes so long is being inundated with appeals... well Duh... when you send out over inflated tax bills... what do you expect?
