Slow Moving Vehicle triangle reflector sign used as driveway marker?

What cheeses me off is the new strobes the cops and fire depts use. They are so frickin bright it's impossible to see what's going on, where you're going....or if there's a cop standing in the road trying to direct traffic.

Someone's gonna get killed if they keep using them. There's no need of it.

A relative of mine in Maine said that the sheriff had been informing the folks with the triangles as drive-way markers, that they had 24 hours to remove them or be ticketed. If they then didn't remove them the highway dept. would, and send them the bill. In NY the troopers will give you a ticket if the triangle is visible when the vehicle is traveling over 25 mph, such as when said vehicle is on a trailer. I guess it depends where you live.

don't forget the blinding and irritating strobes on school buses. as if the red flashers weren't enough. its especially aggravating when it is a ball team headed home on the interstate...

Illegal in Ontario. Anybody that mounts those slow moving vehicle signs on a mail post etc are a very shallow thinker. There is a moron on Manitoulin Island highway #6 northbound on a curve with a SMV sign on his mailbox post. I plan on calling the MTO the next time I'm through if it's still there.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a 'slow moving vehicle' sign until I bought my tractor last year.

Don't be too harsh on them, if you don't live in 'slow moving vehicle' country, it's just a fancy reflector.

You could at least say something to him. Either knock on his door or leave a note and give him the chance to take care of the issue without elevating the situation.

Never noticed them until this thread, saw 2 of them sat night up in PA, just a few driveways from each other. Don't see them as a problem personally.

Not a problem? SMV signs are banned from posts because in fog or blizzards people have driven into them. Why do you think they passed the law ?

That would be called looking for trouble. What owner of a SMV sign that he proudly spent time and money on after thinking it was a good idea. Is going to think when some stranger drives onto his property and quotes the highway traffic act ?
