3110 waaay too big for my needs, I have always been a fan of 'bigger is better' but not in this instance. I would think that with places like Fredericks, Hoye and a mass of others that replacement parts should be available for years to come, that and the cross over to JD models. Just realizing the limitations of an older tractor and working within them.

My 02 F250 diesel would definitely tote the little thing just fine, the trailer I have is a bit on the big side for the job but oh well.

2Hp. and powershift. 2Hp. probly not even noticeable. Which I Rarely/Hardly Ever do I even Run Over 2000 Rpms. with either mower. I believe Full Throttle is 2900 rpms. If your using a FEL. the power shift comes in real handy.

I'd probably swing for the 2210 just for the powershift option since the main reason for getting the tractor is for the FEL, now just narrow down between 22/23/24....

Well, You talked about driving down ..Drive down and take a look..He'll let you drive them around and try them out..Then you can decide which 1 you want..

They hadn't been in business long when I bought my 3110 from them..

Drove up waited for them to re assemble the tractor, drove it around a bit, and brought it home..

Tom Fredricks quit his job as an engineer at NASA in Huntsville AL. ,And started importing tractors.

I will drive down and pick one out, unless I find a better deal on one closer to me on a used one...being careful to try and stay away from the VN ones.
Interesting about the NASA background and good to know you , and others, have had suck a good experience with them.

This has been a great thread; I'm looking at a similar range of machines..at the moment the 2420D; i too have looked at the Max28XL, but the YM's are appealing.

After my JohnDeere 850 died, I spent some time with a local diesel garage looking for a replacement engine. In the long run of the saga, I happened across Fredricks that could just swap the engine that died with a restored 3T80. After looking at the poor condition of the JD850, it was smarter to just trade it in on the YM2610. The YM2610 is the PowerShift version of the JD850. I tried a YM2500 (aka the JD850 stick/gear shifting), but immediately fell in love with the PowerShift. Plus, this also meant my wife and dad could drive it when needed.

The YM2610 being a near clone with the JD850 has benefits of knowing that the JD service manuals and parts are more readily available. Plus, I can cross-reference accessories too.

On a personal note, I had spent about 5-hours at Fredricks. I saw first hand the clean operation and setup. They have their act together totally. Machines are rebuilt in a disciplined manner while structured from phase to phase much like an assembly line, but with equal care to quality throughout. It's not easy to say it in words without writing a long worded essay on the restore process. The Fredricks operation is not a mom-n-pop or overnight whim. It's a full fledged operations. Everything is neat and orderly. Even with the unloading of the large shipping containers, the tractors are inventoried and placed in the restoration cycle lines per models and makes.

One other thing to note. What Fredricks has listed on their website for tractor inventory is very modest to say at best. Take the website inventory and multiply that by 20X. There are hundreds of tractors onsite!

Fredricks will even restore John Deere Yanmars too. He was mine after the restore. If you would had seen how pathetic the JD850 was, you would be shocked. That JD850 should have went to the scrap yard, not due to rust, but the dents and twisting broken lights and rotted tires made it really ugly along with the cracked head and block that the previous owner neglected.

For comparing the YM2610 to a YM3110, there is a slight Hp advantage with the YM3110. Yet, the price is very attractive with the YM2610. The YM2610 size works well too. Not too big, not too small either.

If you are still in a price crunch, the YM2000 has the 2TR20-A 2-cly engine. The YM2210 has the 2T90. Both are good machines. There are other machines there at Fredricks not even listed. It would be best to visit and see what other models you could choose from for the value of the dollars you have.
