Question about Yanmar models

/ Question about Yanmar models #21
I am a huge Yanmar 3 cylinder fan but you mentioned that your wife may use tractor. One thing to keep in mind is safety. I'm not sure to what extent the Yanmar referb you are considering but I think most only have rops, pto shield,& overrun clutch. Where as most new tractors have all that plus seat safety and clutch or hydro safety and or parking brake safety.

The weight of the Mahindra is 1819lb plus FEL 627lb Cost of $14479 plus VA tax $770= $15250
The weight of the Yanmar is 2127lb plus FEL ??? Cost of $10894 plus freight $700= $11594 ($3656 saved)

I am stuck between the 2310 and 2420, which are pretty close on price. Not real sure where I got my original numbers from, perhaps I was comparing the 2620d to the Mahindra.

I wouldn't think that with the following these tractors have that parts availability would be an issue, but I said that about my Wheel Horses and parts for them is a complete PITA and very expensive.

As for safety, again the tractor is coming from Fredericks so it will have the ROPS on it and I assume (??) a seat belt as well as they are required by the current CFR's. I was more making a joke about the vibration characteristics of the 2cyl that my wife would be using it, but in reality I can't see her doing much more than a joy ride around the yard. However if she can handle her car on a windy road race track, I hope she can handle a tractor. I do agree, safety is key and the Mahindra was built with this in mind, as well it is much lower therefor giving it a much lower center of gravity. I'm not sure if they integrate a seat switch at Fredericks..that being said, I have disabled the seat, hydra and pto on our "go to" Wheel Horse.

I may price the Max from Fredericks as a package with trailer and FEL, drive out there "light truck" and tow it back..sell the trailer and be done with it. The money I save on fuel and the aggravation of towing an empty trailer might outweigh the loss I would take on the trailer in the long run. That sound like a good idea anyway.

I wouldn't know the tax difference in the 2 states.. If you buy here , I don't think you pay tax in your state.. Well, I can tell you,, some parts are a no go on the yanmars..I guess for a price, you could always have the part made..1 member broke a part for his fwd drop down box... I don't know if he ever found that part, or made something that would work. The part was/is no longer available.. I own a yanmar.. I sure hope I can get parts when something breaks.. I've got too much $$$ tied up in this thing

Ugh, now you have me worried....
I know if you have it delivered out of state, there is no sales tax(Buy from GA have them deliver to VA or elsewhere). I do not have to pay sales tax in VA unless I am titling something, like a car, in this case no VA tax.

There is always salvage yard parts for the Yanmars and no one can foresee the future with parts availability for the Mahindra either.

Eh, many variables...

Parts availability is one reason I bought US. model Ym2000. I purchased it in 2/08 ASIS. and so far the only thing that I had to do was rebuild the starter in 2011. 75$:D Maint. Wally World and Napa. for Fluid and filters.
I use a JD. 5103 and have no issues with the Noise or Vibration of the 2000. From the complaints I hear match to the type of Music people listen to now a days and they need to turn that !!! down.
Nothing compared to one of my old Harley's or 2cyl.Triumphs. IMO. something about the vibration in the seat the ladies actually seem to like
I enjoy mowing on the 2000 and it's so much easier. If I'm on a open field the JD. is faster but nowhere near as nice of a Job. Both using the same Implement a FM. With only 2' if that per pass more really isn't much unless you in Hundreds of acres. Time wise. Fuel wise the 2000 will run all day on a Gal. of Diesel which is another factor. IMO. don't rule out the 2cyl. Seriously Mines not that loud. ;)

I believe I read in to things too much, over analyzing.

Yeah, my wife loved being on the tail of my Ducati (v-twin) haha.

After doing the numbers last night, it is hard to justify the extra $3600 for the new machine with the frequency that it would be used, even if I did branch out and do some light contracting work during my time off.

I have a 2 cyl yanmar in a sailboat and it is a bit louder and more rattley than the 3 cyl kubota that Ive been using, but then again that is when listening to it when I am inside the cabin with the engine cover off.

I read that people say parts availability for the 2310/2420 is pretty good but it the F/FX models that are to worry about. I don't intend on any type of heavy work with this thing. A friend of mine was just rear ended on his Kubota by a motorcycle, the dealership had to piece his tractor back together with other models because parts were no longer available for his. I would say that's the risk for any older tractor/car. One time I broke the steering knucle on my 78 F250, after trying every salvage yard in VA and branching out to each yard's recommendation the part was finally found at an employee's back yard in Utah. All part of owning an older machine.

Your YM2000 is easy to get repair parts for?

I believe it's the easiest and most common model. BTW. I seen the Va. and Bel Air Md. before coming to Ga. for me. I don't believe the travel to Al. would be a problem at all. I haven't been to Fredricks in yrs. but it's easy to get to IMO. That's a dove tail the 2000 in my pic. 7000 Lbs.. I sold it and only use a 16' 3500Lbs. single with a drop gate. Works great and I can haul the FM. hooked up also. Can hardly tell it's behind My 01 F-250.:)

/ Question about Yanmar models #28
I haven't had any issues with my 3110.. I feel if something should break, that I do have other tractor models to look at for parts.. Mine 3110 shares parts with a yanmar 3810 and a JD 950 AND 1050. But, even these jd tractors are on up in age..
I just hope never break a major hard to get part and I should be ok

Looking at Fredericks website, what would be the difference between the ym2000d and ym2210d, other than horsepower? Parts availability?
The next step up being 2310 is a big jump in price, features seem to be the same but 3 cyl, more power and newer production. As long as repair parts are not an issue I'm fine with whatever and power wise any of them will suffice.

2Hp. and powershift. 2Hp. probly not even noticeable. Which I Rarely/Hardly Ever do I even Run Over 2000 Rpms. with either mower. I believe Full Throttle is 2900 rpms. If your using a FEL. the power shift comes in real handy. Parts My guess on either shouldn't be a problem.
