Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I use Acetone for most all my cleaning. But I also wax bare steel after it has been cleaned well to keep from oxidizing.

Acetone is great but the last time I used it smudged some decals and smeared some JD paint. I switched back to any other solvent from gas to paint thinner. Acetone is pretty powerful.

Yep, in my experience, acetone is way to hot for cleaning enameled or lacquered machinery surfaces, as it can quickly dull the gloss. I stay with mineral spirits for packing grease removal. On bare metal, acetone is great for removing all traces of oil and grease.

Thank you.

I knew a guy that cleaned his spray guy with acetone and did it in front of his shop. The wind blew some overspray back on two tractors and a very expensive hot rod. Were it not for lots of paint to buff out, it would have been an expensive problem. I don't think one of the tractors ever buffed out correctly.

When I use acetone as a thinner to paint, I even turn off the lights over my work area and use other lighting. A broken incandescent bulb would just be a flash of fire. There is a similarity between acetone and acetylene and somehow acetylene is made using acetone or they are chemically similar. This stuff is dangerous.

Here's one I just learned I couldn't live without. It's the 6 ft lifting sling. It's just a piece of webbing with reinforced ends but is very handy lifting or pulling and tugging on things you don't want to damage. I think I might need a second one.

2" x 6 Ft. 6400 Lb. Capacity Web Sling

There are two kinds of these and both are about the same price except the purple one is only rated at around 2000 lbs and this one is 6400 lbs. Go with this one shown above--it's yellow and often on sale.

For grease metal protection on cast iron most solvents will work,
Laquer thinner, gasoline, good varsol etc.
For protection I like good old fashioned paste floor wax.

I bought the adjustable wrench that you said was nice to use on BX and B series top links and side links.

I sure hope it works for you. FYI--This is an inexpensive wrench so I often use the handle to pound anything that needs pounding when I don't have a hammer handy.

I'm sure it will be fine for a tractor tool box.

No argument here but I think it is great stuff when handled properly. Sometimes no doubt it is overkill but for cleaning especially bare metal I don't think it can be beat. Highly recommended when metal bonding with many epoxy/acrylic adhesives.
