YM 186D replacing seal behind brake drum.

Hi to everyone, I'm replacing my brake shoes on the 186D and found one side had a lot of oil in there, I have removed the drum and found a plate there with 6 or so bolts and removed them, I noticed the plate has 2 threaded holes to put 2 bolts onto so to push the plate out but It's very tight and I'm worried ill brake it,

Am I doing something wrong or is there something else I need to do?

I don't think you can pull that off without taking more apart internal. There is a differential and bevel gear on those shafts. You can probably pop out the oil seal and change without taking the housing out.

I think I would try this approach 1st.

Make sure you have the Dia. Seal or the correct one the best you can tell and pry the old one out. Then just tap the New one back in. A good old screw driver my do the job.

Winston I did what you said, by removing the c clip I got the seal out with a screw driver, once the seal is out the whole shaft pulls out with no force ready to clean and reinstall with new seal.

Seal collar looks a little grooved in the picture but probably ok? Yanmar Tractor Parts COLLAR 25X40X15 -- EMAIL FOR AVAILABILITY --

Yeah it is a little pitted with rust and have given it a light sand to clean it up and I'll see how it goes when I fit it back on. Thanks
