They have a substitute part for "AL181919" Spring Quantity 3, SUB FOR AL115253; which is the part which holds the compression disks against the friction disk and looks like the old star wheel adjusters from drum brakes based on the bad picture I'm seeing on JD's site.

What I can't figure out from their pictures is what pushes on the brake plates?

I experimented with my Kubota M9540 this afternoon. I have the same pedal movement in the first pump as I have in the tenth pump. I did not measure my pedal travel, sorry.

They sell a lot of the 5000E series at our nearest dealer. The sales manager himself has a 5083E cab, MFWD and Loader. My wife and son bought a 2011 5065M 2WD with cab and took delivery in June of 2012 and it has had none of problems mentioned in this thread, I read this thread from page 1 to the end. I went to Tractordata expecting to see the same engine in the 5065E as the 5065M but it's not. The M has a 5 cyl. and the E has a 3 cyl. I do know that the engine in the 5065M is made in Mexico, the Transmission is supposedly from China, the front 2WD axle is from India, the hydraulics are from Brazil and the cab is made in the US. Assembled in Augusta, GA not made there. Friend of mine took the Gold Key tour after ordering a 5115M and he said they do nothing but assemble tractors there.

The 5065M here may have 4000 lbs. of sprayer and contents behind it at a time or 3500 lbs. of DiscBine behind so you're talking close to 11-12K lbs. total, I'm sorry but good brakes are essential to safe operation.

This brake problem would be totally unacceptable on this farm. What's going to happen when they sell one to city maintenance dept. and no one tells the operator about the brakes and runs over someone or crashes it on the way to some park that needs some landscape work? My fear is that owner/operators that know of this problem and have documented it but continue to operate them and get into accident with one on the road I fear they're going to come back on the owner for knowingly and willingly operating a faulty piece of equipment. Also if someone is running a business with one and an employee has an accident and OSHA comes in who do think is going get the blame for it if it's a known problem? Not sure how or where the law stands on a situation such as this but it is something to think about.

I asked the service guy about my lemon tractor. Said it was an adjustment under the dash that need to be ran almost all the way out? I don't agree since the second push is firm. New tractor is great except for constant caution lights. Dealer came out and looked it over. Ordered a new fuel pump and tightened the negative battery post.

Good luck to everyone else with problems. Loading and unloading can be tricky but when this new tractor was brand new I took it across the creek with 1/2 tank of fuel. It sucked air and died rights as I was at the top. Had it done it in the other tractor and died, it wouldve been nerve racking having to pump the brakes to get it stopped

I thought there was a hand brake on the floor to the left of the seat. There is on the larger models as well as the park position on the gear stick.

Most JD utility tractors don't have "true power brakes" in the true sense of the words. The trans pump fills the brake valve but supplies "no pressure"(note the hose clamps) therefore in theory if brake disc pistons don't leak oil one could apply brake pedals many times without engine running and brakes would hold. JD hasn't changed the brake valve design much since the introduction of the 20 series so I wonder why the pedals on some newer models requires pumping?
