Good morning! 63˚, cloudy hitting 76˚ later. No rain.

The potatoes are up.

The afternoon temps have been in the mid 80s the past few days. "They" say that when the mesquite comes out there will be no more frost.

The trees (shrubs) in the middle of this morning's pic in the light green are the mesquite.

46 degrees going up to high fifties today in rain.
Interesting that almost all weather fronts, except for NorEasters, come through here on a 45 degree angle, meaning the Southern part always trails the Northern part, so the "tilt" is to the right. I will rely on our resident experts to explain that. One would think that hotter air would move faster...

had a nice breakfast at the local greasy spoon. One guy is a full time tobacco farmer with about 2200 acres farmed.
Just like his Daddy did. Interesting to learn from him all about tobacco farming, which I know nothing about. I asked him this morning about growing different flavors of tobacco, different strains, and it seemed more that the companies wanted bulk standardized tobacco and they would handle the flavor and additives later. It wasn't anything as specific as wine, a chardonnay and a bordeaux difference perhaps, but no subtlety on the local level.

And then we talked about raised gardens. Most of these guys have tractors, btw...
I just can't go in there more than one morning every week or two for those biscuit egg sandwiches;
truly a heart attack on a plate. The regular eggs are simmered in grease on the grill and get a bit slippery
on the plate. Only did that once... No granola muffins in this place. Which is dumb because they would sell too.
Like they are stuck in their deep fried past. If I were smart I would eat first and then go in for just coffee.

This little country grocery/grill is two miles up from the town's high school on the same main road. So all the high school kids pile in at a certain time for breakfast on the way to school. Often just a cheese biscuit and a Coke. Yikes.
But sure fun to watch. Some kids all nicely dressed up, others sloppy, and so many fat kids.
wonder if it's from eating those cheese biscuits and coke...

Good Morning. 0820, sunny, 60F with 77% humidity. Forecast high of 76F with 60% chance of thunderstorms today, and a low of 58F tonight. Only 2 of the next 10 days has a better than 50% chance of rain, and not very much if it comes. Would like for the April showers be a little thicker than that.

Not sure what I'll get into before work. Maybe do a little mowing. I did right in front of the house last week, but the rest of the yard could sure use it.

Drew, the same thing happens down here. The weather comes off the Gulf from the SW, and keeps that pattern most of the way up the country. Not sure of the why, other than going from higher pressure toward low pressure.

30F now showers and flurries mixing today high low 40's.
I declare snow plowing season over for this winter yesterday, remove plow and plow frame than dug out culverts.
Well its Monday again least new month at hand.

Enjoy the day all.

About the same weather here. 50% chance of snow showers, low 40's, cloudy.

I thought about taking the blower and chains off but there isn't any other tractor work to do now anyways. Remember the freak 2007 Patriot's Day storm? We had about a foot of snow here. April 2007 nor'easter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (April 20th this year)

No rush, reports from 300GUY and bakerg do not make me want to rush back to cold weather.
Congrats to Michigan Spartans.
Good Morning All.

Predicted highs later this week is into the 70s but with rain also in the forcast.
Not many thought the Spartan would be in the final 4 this year and if you compare their record to the other 3 teams it looks like they will not have much of a chance. I would not count them out though as they have no pressure compared to the others that are suppose to win. Could possibly be a Big Ten championship game.

Good morning all. 36F sunny and less windy than yesterday, going to 68F. Thunderstorms to appear Wed nite or later. 2 days in the 50's otherwise 60's and 70's in the 10 day. Another truck load of branches today, and likely at least a half load tomorrow. Then it's time to split :). Good riding weather early then rain Thursday/Friday.

Good morning Tractor Driver!!

46ー at 8:15 looks like it is going to be a sunny day here. You guys all know the story, I owe I owe so off to work I go!
Catch Ya All Later!

That's a great chipper/shredder!! Bearcat (Crary) make's them, and Woods Equipment also sells them under their brand name. I have the Woods version (Woods 5000).
There is a blower kit available too, if you're interested in putting chips in a certain area or a trailer. It's about a thousand bucks, IIRC. For that money, I'm OK with dropping the chips under the implement.

Hey Roy, I'm with you about letting the chips fall under the implement. I am thinking of getting the medium debris screen though.

Have a good day everyone!

Eric, here is a pic of my 12V and 6v (tiny silver) solar charger. The 12v I have had for a week and I do have a regulator for it that I been taking on and off to see the different charge rates and they are about the same at the end of the day. The regulator knocks the charge down coming in from 20,2v to 13.7v. It charged up the lawnmower battery from 11.9 to 12.2 the last week. However, in the evening, the battery drops down to 12.0. I'll have to experiment with it to see if I need to disconnect the 12v at night. The 6v battery is starting off at 6.2 and there has been no change after connected for 1/2 sunny day. The 6v instruction said it needed no regulator, the 12v instructions said it did need a regulator.

Does a regulator stop the drain or would that be in the panel?

6v solar:
Amazon.com: Moultrie 6 Volt Solar Panel: Sports & Outdoors

12v solar:
1.5 Watt Solar Battery Charger

12v regulator:
7 Amp Solar Charge Regulator

I can't see any electrical spec details for the 6V panel. Info suggests it is made for keeping a small battery topped up so expect it will have a diode inside.
If your meter measures current you can put this in series with panel and see what is going on.

The 12 V regulator should be designed to stop it draining the battery when there is no sunshine. Spec shows it is more than just a battery charger, it also has auxialliary 12V output.
It has deep discharge protection for a battery when using the aux 12V so they know what they are doing and should be fine to leave connected.

Your tree looks good, do climb the tree to trim it or can you reach most of it with a pole saw?

45 out this AM. Snowing on the way into another real job. Just a freak storm, I guess. Spent the better part of the week end finishing (sanding) floors in the original parts of the farm house. Goal was one room, ended up doing two. Floors are approaching 100 years old, never looks to have been touched over the years, except for staining and painting. One floor has a lot of burn marks in it, what is recommended for flooring with burn stains?

Carpet ;)

You are lucky to have old boards with lots of "character". Wood ash and lemon juice for small marks, for larger areas you may be better off to keep going with the belt sander. A hot iron over a damp cloth can often lift the fibres in a dink.
