I have never checked other counties ,but is Chesterfield the only place in the state that charges this much?

Is the burn permit from the county? or are you in city limits? I've never heard of that, but here in Texas, if you are outside city limits, you can do what you want with your land and burn anytime you want unless there is a burn ban in effect due to dry conditions.

This is in Chesterfield county, seperate from the city of Richmond. That's why I couldn't believe someone in another thread was complaining about their fire dept. imagine having to pay $400 every time you want to burn. It even specifies the size fires and not just building lot clearing but land cleanup and maintenance. They suggest that you get one for a bonfire party also. Then you have to have any home owner within 500' sign off on it.

Below is the link to their site. I'm glad I'm not in Chesterfield. It also says you can't do an open burn from May thru September. The state forbids it from Feb. 15 to April 30. So you're window is very small.

Footing were dug this week. Continuous footers. Engineerdesigned and stamped for County Approval because of the shrink swell soil in the area. Footers were dug 24" below frost level at 18". Rebar over compacted gravel.

Pumper Truck brought into today and pumped 32 Yards. I think this was a lot for a small 1700'/1800' house.

We had to tailgate 3 more yards of concrete when we came up short. We had to release the pumper truck since he charges about $150 per hour (minium 3 hours) and $6 per yard to pump. The house will have a 22' x 26' garage attached to the house. The real garage will be in the back yard.

Pole Barn Garage pad is ready for the barn.
I had an additional 40 tons of fill dirt delivered to raise the garage.
The garage should start in two weeks. We had to wait on the delivery of the pole protectors.
Garage will be 36' x 60' x 12' with a second floor that will have a storage room that measures 14' x 60'.

Why 12'? I built my barn 12' tall and kick myself as does my uncle. My two friends all have 10' barns and they are not happy either.

Between us our 10' and 12' barns will not fit my boat, a camper, a pontoon boat, Case backhoe, a GM and Ford dump trucks, ect. At 14' anything that will go down the road will fit.

Lots of concrete but it looks like your foundation design spreads the soil bearing load out pretty good. It's probably appropriate for your soil. The foundation is no place to skimp.

Getting concrete down is a nice milestone in your project.
