Installed new loader valve - now 3pt lift won't work

No I have't researched any tank line pressures. All I know is my 31 ton Cub Cadet log splitter has no PB. It would be interesting to determine if JeepsAreBuilt IHC 284 came from the dealer with loader installed and plumbed the way it was. Thanks for the explanation,Jim

I have seen tank port pressure on some valves as high as 1200 psi, but that is rare.

Just curious as to what is downstream on your log splitter that requires hydraulic flow.

JeepsAreBuilt ,

Did you ever connect the valve ports correctly.

Is everything working correctly?

This weekend I had time to work on the tractor some more.. I decided to put the old valve back on, so I could do tractor work as I needed to to. However, after swapping the old valve back on, the 3pt still was not working ! So I pulled the 3pt control valve and disassembled the entire thing, and I ended up finding debris logged in the unloading check valve.. and It was not able to seat/close. I got it back together and the 3pt was working again. I then, swapped the new loader valve back on(by now I was pretty quick at swapping hoses around). I plumbed the new valve this way, with no pyb plug in, c port plugged off, outlet to the t port of the valve. This was the only way the font loader would work properly.

I'm not knowledgeable about hydraulic systems, so I dont know what you guys are talking about, whether I need a 3rd hose or not, but if I do need it, I want it. How would I hook it up ? Put the pyb plug in, and plumb a new hose from c port to the tank of my tractor somewhere(not to the 3pt control valve) ?

The reason I put a new loader valve on the tractor was because the front loader was slowly loosing its pressure and dropping. Now with the new valve, its better, but the bucket is still loosing pressure. I guess the rams need to be rebuilt. The old valve was not leaking(out visually, but maybe internally). I dont think the old valve or loader was factory..

Heres a pic of the tractor working..

Since loader operated correctly for several yrs without a PBY connected to tractor I think you'll be fine. Thanks for the update,Jim

Totally wrong. I says.

It is hard to believe how some of you operate, but it is your machine, so go for it.

There is the right way and the not so right way.

I never did see a PB hose and a tank hose installed

I also find it hard to believe that if the loader was connected correctly and the 3pt connected correctly then all the hyd should work.

What good does it do to give good instructions if one does not follow them. Seems like a waste of my time and effort.

How would I add a tank hose ? I dont have any ports on my tractor for one.. I guess I would have to drill and tap a hole ? Would the hose I add, need to be a high pressure hydraulic hose rated at 4000 psi with crimped ends ?

You have a tank port, so just add a tank hose and run it to a return line/tank line.

You were using the tank port to feed the 3pt in your original setup.

You should have the PB screw installed and a hose in the C port and going to the 3pt input.

You should also have a tank line running from the tank port to the tank.

Everything should work correctly if done correctly..

The tank hose does not need to be high pressure, but most use the same hose for everything.

Theoretically, one should never see any more than 50 to 100 psi on a return line as it is open to tank and should cause no or very little back pressure.

Some older tractors didn't utilize a PBY. If the International 284 built back in the late 70's early 80's operated correctly for yrs without a PBY then why does it need one now especially since JeepsAreBuilt states it operates fine the way valve is plumbed? Also the 284 hyd pump only has 6 GPM & 1900 psi
