I bought this TroyBilt push mower from the Box store for $255 + tax.

It has a Honda engine with a real oil cap. It also has a valve between the gas tank and the carburetor. I think I'll be able to close the valve and run the engine until all the gas in the carburetor is burned up. That feature sold me on the mower.

i install those on everything now and just cut the fuel off till motor dies. Many times the needle in the carb does not seal well and will flood the motor out. THis is the guy who posted a page or so back talking about his grandparents cub cadet has gas running out of the muffler. It fills the carb and runs in the intake into the cylinder till its filled up and then runs out muffler or leaks into the crankcase and "makes" oil.

My old MTD mower does this even after rebuilding the carb a few times. I think the permenant seat is worn or pitted or somethig. May look at a new carb next time but now i just shut the fuel off to it.

Try turning your bushhog up side down to drain the gear box oil!!! I changed the oil in a Bushhog razor back i bought a while back and that was odd looking trying to flip a 5fter with a JD855 loader and a chain. Still dumped about half of it into my gravel drive as i missed the catch pan.

I think throttle control went away because of the mandated shutoff bar on the handle. My newest push mower is from southern states, and not a very good mower, wish I had taken it back. The one before was good until one of the boy scouts stalled it in high grass and decided to flip it over to inspect the bottom, and ruined the engine.

several years ago I bought a troybilt riding mower for my dad. Got it home, and it was just a terrible mower. Don't remember the specifics, but one of those things you don't realize until you actually use it. Anyway, I loaded it back on the truck and returned it immediately. The store, Lowes gave me a hard time and didn't want to take it back because I had used it for one trip around the yard but they took it (store had a sign up about satisfaction guaranteed, and I wasn't in a very satisfied mood, especially since the store was an hr away). I am not a fan of the new troybilt, they retained the old name but are not the quality they used to be. I had not seen one with a honda engine, that I would consider.

Honda does this because their carbs will leak gas into the cylinder.

Ariens snow throwers have a spring loaded valve to completely drain the float bowl just by pushing on it. Honda generators have a turn screw. Running it until it dies doesn't completely drain the float bowl.

....I buy Mogas at an airport that doesn't have ethanol so it's less of a concern.

We call it Avgas down here. Price is cheap when you consider all the problems it keeps away.

Mogas is not Avgas.

Mogas is a blend of 91 octane lead free gas for Aviation use. Most airplanes can't use it but many from the 60 ' s and earlier are approved via a STC. STC is a supplemental type certificate. It's a amendment to the original certificate issued to the aircraft when manufactured.

Avgas is 100 octane and contains lead. Often called me 100LL. 100 low lead is dyed blue.

i didn't think there was any type of gas that still had lead in it. Weird. Is it only used for old aircraft, or what?
