Kioti DK40SE HST Cab, Mechron 2200
Two days ago, I was hauling Cedar logs with my 3 pt mounted skidder winch on the DK40SE Cab tractor. At the end of the day, I lowered the bucket, as always, and turned off the key. It's Miller time!

Next morning, I jump in the cab, it's hot, so I open all the windows to let in some fresh air, turn the key to start up and CRASH!

The skidder winch smashes the rear window into a million pieces. "What the h.ll happened?" (Not my exact words).

I had forgotten to lower the winch the night before and it slowly lowered on its own thru the night. Next day when the pressure was applied, the winch rose back to the position selected on the 3pt control lever. About 4" into the centre of the open window.

$484.90 later, it's all good again. (ordered today)

The message here is don't forget to lower the implement on the 3pt hitch when you're done for the day.

Ooooow, an expensive reminder for sure.

Ouch!

I did something very similar to the belly mower linkage on my tractor. Except silly me raised and lowered the 3pt arms 3-4 times before I realized what i was doing.

Not quite 450$ but sure was close.

Did I mention this was within a week of taking delivery.... ugh.

Silly thing is, I even looked at the winch as I was opening the rear window to make sure there was clearance to open the window. :confused3: Just didn't occur to me to check the 3 pt lever.

Ouch. I'm dreading the day I break a window or rip a door off the cab on mine.

Not a money making day I take it. ;)

My machine was quite new when I failed to pay attention to the angle of my bucket (non-self levelling), that was filled with firewood. I raised it to get a tight turn made. Once the arms were fully extended, I did not notice the bucket was too steeply angled backward and a big block of wood fell out and landed on my hood's nose cone, splitting it wide open.

I think you discovered a potential downside of position control! Will have to remember this next time there's a debate....

And a downside to a cab for an even more touchy subject.
