61 degrees on a cloudy day going up to low seventies, with rain coming in after lunch. Looks like I'll be planting trees this morning, otherwise not much planned. Am hoping the next four days of on and off rain will take care of my grass seed watering duties.
I set up the camera last night on the porch railing; the pivot mount was useless, really designed to grip a tree, not plastic railing, without scratching everything. today I'll put some seed back in the feeders and then we'll see what happens.
With all the food on display out in the lawn, I'm hoping Mr Bear does not have any interest in gnawing on the camera on the porch.
My neighbor told me the suety treats I hang for the birds are what attracted the bear. And I just bought the good deal ten pack...thinking I should hang about six of them off the long clothesline I have in the rear of the house, but am afraid the bear would wreck the clothesline in the process. Need a tall metal pole like a tether ball setup...could make for some fun pictures but realistically the last thing I want to do is make this place attractive to bears. Of course, I was told quietly the old name for my pond was Bear Pond. Great. I have a great deal of respect for things bigger than me with sharp teeth and claws.
Now that the air compressor is running, my goal for this rainy period ahead is to get some experience using my air nailers to build shelving for my new wood shop. I can also put up much of the sidewall insulation now that the wiring is run; I have a little electric staple gun for that. Also need to make a run to Lowes to pick up an inexpensive 8k thru wall ac unit.
I've studied all the minisplit and combo ac/heat alternatives and decided to stick with the basics; particularly since the back of the ac unit will stick out inside the open part of the barn and not be in the way, so why not.
also might try to get the orchard sprayer going, just for plain water. It's been almost two weeks since a heavy rain so it's time to water just about everything I've planted. Now if I could rig a little boom arrangement, like those pavement patch machines that squirt sealer on the road..., I could drive along, flip a switch, the water would go where I wanted it, at just the right speed. Unlikely...
