I friend of mine has that same exact truck(with lots more miles) and it is becoming a money pit, wouldn't touch one for any money myself.

Last august I bought a brand new 2013 F150 4WD ext cab with rear locker, for $28,000. No way $18k for an 11yo truck thats been wrecked. IMHO there are better options if willing to look around.

A year and a half ago, a new 2014 Tacoma with 6 cyl engine, 'access' cab, 4wd was $28995. Best price I could get anywhere.

I didn't get it. For 3 grand more I got a Tundra.

Kindly explain.

Take a look at KBB.com on comparably-equipped Tacoma and Frontier. I ran a 2004 extended cab, base model + air conditioning, 35K miles each. The Frontier was just under $8000, the Tacoma just over $12,100. In my experience, Toyota dominates the segment for a reason.

Slightly off topic but still Toyota Truck related. Toyota has replaced rusted frames on some 2000-2003 Tundras and some 2001 to 2004 Toyota Sequoias at no charge. My brothers Sequoia was done last year after they called him to bring it in for inspection. The truck had even been undercoated most years. How many other companies would or have done a total frame replacement without even being asked?

The above link displays 'Forbidden' but still works for me. If it doesn't work just search 'Tundra frame replacement' or something like that if interested.

Odd that you mention the frame thing but I took my '05 Tundra in for the warranty frame inspection today. They said there was no rust but they are going to clean and coat it. They gave us a free loaner 2015 Camry to use for the two days. I've been buying vehicles for decades and this is the best I have ever been treated.

whereas in a few years the 11-year-old one will need to be replaced.

Under what conditions does a 15yo vehicle with less than 100K miles on it need to be replaced?

For the 19,000.00 quoted price (including purchased warranty, which is probably not worth the paper it is printed on), a NEW Nissan would be a better deal.

The Toyota is not worth $12,100.00 either, in my opinion. I have had (2) Toyota pickups, and (3) Toyota cars, and I like Toyotas.

But I don't like over-paying for anything, and an 11-year-old Toyota is not worth $18,000.00 Or even $12,100.00

Well, I happen to be driving a 2001 Ford Ranger than I bought new ($11,750.00 cash, no trade, no financing)

It now has about 140,000 miles on it. It has had it's share of problems, but I won't get into that here.

After the fist of the year I will be getting a new pickup (don't want to pay personal property tax on it for 2015).

So, next year I will be replacing a 15-year-old pickup.

People seem to think that mileage is the only determinate of "age" in a vehicle, but time is as well.

I have tractor tires that need to be replaced, not because they are "worn out," but because they are cracking due to age.

The same happens with many components of vehicles.
