Traded my Silverado 2500HD DMax for a Ram 3500 Cummins/ Aisin

Other than looking really cool, I've often wondered if the clearance light have and real function?

It's a DOT thing. Any vehicle wider than 79" is supposed to have them. Since the truck is a SRW it's under the limit, but the cab is the same as would be on a DRW (which would be over the 79") so it's no issue for Ram to offer them on the SRW.

Nice truck, Hopefully you have better luck with your 15 then I did with my 14 2500 LongHorn. Chrysler just purchased mine back. Sucks because the truck was so nice but had to many problems.

Every manufacturer has lemons. I think your truck was one of them. We have a fleet of Rams and Ford super dutys. We have had much better service out of the Rams. What problems did you have? At least ram did the right thing. One of the reasons I am no longer purchasing fords is because for me they don't stand behind their product.

Front Crank shaft seal leaks. Fixed it 4 times still leaks. 3 check engine lights 1 airbag service light. replaced computer control modular twice replace wheel tire monitors twice and replace the ram air induction system once. And when it goes into regen the cab smells very bad like diesel fuel . Truck only has 13000 on it

Yea, those flaws/problems seem atypical, but I plan on keeping my 06 for a loooonnnng time. :thumbsup:

C4Ranch, I just replaced the clearance lights on my 2013 semi truck cab. The whole time I was wondering why they ever called them "clearance" lights. They hardly mean anything as determining clearance. My mirrors are 144" wide, the top of the semi is 13'2" and trailer is 13'6. The clearance lights on the cab are may a little over 11' high and only 96" wide. I just call them marker lights. A total joke and a hold over from years ago.
