I am building myself a rock rake, and am not sure how far apart the tines should be, does anyone have any idea?
Thanks

Mine is about .75 to 1.0 inch between the tines.

Depends on what you need. I just built a wood bucket for picking up and moving split firewood. The tines are 1" square steel about 30" long and they have 2" clearance between them. Been working fine for clearing rocks as well. Whole thing is 5' wide.

The gap between mine is more like 3" but the unit is more for fallen branches etc than rocks. Regardless, it works well on both.

Thanks for the info guys, I went ahead built mine with two inch spacing. Works great for brush and larger stones but too far apart for smaller stones.
I am in the process of building another one with the tines one inch apart, should work for smaller stones

I found that by cutting a two x 3/8 strap into pieces about 1.5" long, I was able to weld 2" spacers between my tines about 6" from the end. This gave me a lot more rigidity and prevented bending individual tines.

How wide is your blade. By the gap being 3in it's less then 3 ft??
