Some of the pepper seeds I started last year had in the instructions to water the seeds and plants only with the hottest water from your tap.

Seeds I could see to soften them up. But hot water on a plant can wilt it pretty badly. That's why I always run my garden hose out a couple minutes until the water heated by the sun gets flushed out by the cooler water from in the house.
