Aw, I'm just going fishing. But wait, I have to clean my shop so I can reach boat. Have to change hitch ball, but where is it?!? Where's my tackle box? Where's my rods? Whew, I'm worn out from digging for me stuff, I'm going inside to take a nap.
yep. That is funny but it sounds like the rest of us folk... To much stuff to look after.

I just spent 2 hours putting together a spreadsheet to remind me of my tractor maintenance. After my nap I will change the oil and fuel filter. Next week the hydro oil. One thing for sure is we are limited to our energy so we can't waste it but should plan and manager our life around how much energy we have and be thankful for having what we have both in energy and in tractors. This is a very interesting thread.

gaproperty, it'd be funny if it wasn't true. Oh me. Seriously, I wear myself out digging to find my mess. It's somewhere...

Thanks guys I just joined the retirement club after 36 years in corporate america, 58 and looking forward to another 36 years doing what I want to do. Only been at this retirement thing for about a month, been busier now then I was working. I felt bad taking afternoon naps, BUT it seems that is OK...LOL. Keep the suggestions coming...

Do your thing while the body is still willing. That will help do it longer but not indefinitely. And plan on some less strenuous activities for later years.

Less strenuous.........not me!!! I'm goin' down doin' what I've been doin' most of my life.....at least a tryin'.

P.S. I just came in from hoeing strawberries.......and will get back to it.

Cheers,
Mike

For me, I have found a rigorous gym workout six mornings a week helps me to do other things during the day. It's 32 miles a week of extra fast walking on an incline treadmill. Sounds odd but I now get more done than before. Have way more energy.

What worked for me out of the gate was keeping a list of what I wanted to do and then prioritizing into a workable pattern. Plus I take a nap most days and some items on the list will never get done.

Retirement only gets better and after a few years you'll wonder why you ever bothered with the things you used to bother with. When someone tells me to "have a nice day" I think to myself that hey, I'm retired and every day is a nice day.

When I put out that much energy, such working out in a gym, I'd like to have more to show for it that a pile of sweaty shorts. The strawberries are now hoed again; and my shorts sure are sweaty...and feel like doing another chore......before that nap.......No offence.:D

Oh, none taken. I think the same way but found that an extra early start to the day helps me the other regular chores done. I still hoe and work hard and even a little earthworks business and I feel the early workout helps me get more done. Whatever works is what's best.
