Just wondering, these people that store up a zillion rounds of .22 or whatever...doesn't this stuff deteriorate and corrode over time due to the gunpowder? I have maybe 500 rounds just for occasional usage.I live in the woods and can walk out the backdoor anytime and shoot 'em up. I mostly just deer hunt on my property. 30-06 makes a big hole in whatever it hits...lol If I were going to stockpile something, it would be 30-30 or 30-06 not some piddling .22 I guess I just don't "get it"? :confused2:

Another way to look at it is, would you rather have five 30 0 6 rounds or 50. 22 rounds to gather your food for the next 3 months? Both would weigh about the same to carry. You could make the argument that the 30.06 would get you some deer meat. Sure, but so can a well placed head shot with a .22. In fact I am not sure which round has killed more. Although statistics will never be known about that. I am not saying your thoughts are wrong, I am just giving you something else to think about.
You post made me laugh good. I have enough enough trouble hitting the dang deer at 100 yards with the 06. I would have to be about 50 foot away to hit it in the head...lol. I have a couple of .22 rifles and one Hi-Standard .22 long barrel 9 shot revolver that was my fathers and is older than I am (59). I keep it filled with the rat shot for the occasional opossum/snake.
