I've picked my battles, your right to ride dirt bikes ENDS at my property line. Mississippi is a no trespassing by default, no posting required. However due to the quality of education here probably many people do not know or understand the law.Is it the sound of other people having fun that is so annoying?
Or just a general sense that since I don't/can't do it, no one should.
My self, I rode dirt bikes when I was young and can relate to the POSITIVE experience that the people are having. Would you rather they rob you to support a dope habit?
Pick your battles, try to appreciate whatever comes your way. Life should not suck.
On my land it was the ATV's and bikes causing the erosion problem. They would use a high power line ROW to cut about three minutes off their trip from east to west and back. Where they removed the top layer of vegetation I ended up with gullies I could stand in and touch the sides. Then they would make paths around and that eroded. We run into more and more trails that are ATV and snowmobile only because of trail erosion and lck of consideration of land owners.
That's about it.There is a huge difference between dirt bikers having fun on their own property and dirt bikers destroying the property of others. I believe this is where the controversy lies.
I decided that the ROW was a good place to exercise my 12 gauge skills. Now since it's about 100 yards away I think it was partially the sound that has caused them to stop. This is the real issue. If it ain't yours...
My neighbors feel entitled to use my property for their pleasure. One kid would throw a limb across the electic fence and ride his ATV across my pasture to a pond and in the process letting some horses escape. Visited his parents who said they did not see any problem, he was not hurting anyone. So, I put a 5 strand barbwire fence up, now they call me bad neighbor when we meet in public
