I would like to get a backhoe for my place. Looking at 3pth mounted units, not sure it's the best way to go. My L2250 is 30 years old and I don't want to wreck it. Does any company make frame mounted units for older tractors?

You can go to the Woods web site and email them with your brand and size of tractor and they are great to answer questions. If at all possible stay away from 3pt mounts I have read and seen pictures where the rear housing has been busted. One recently I say first hand is a John Deere 750 with a Woods BH 7500 3pt hitch it was at the local dealer with the transmission housing broke in half.

was going to say "woods" as well.

from what i can remember from reading up....
most likely you might need to drill some holes maybe cut a couple things to length for the sub frame. maybe get some longer bolts.

I posted my input on your first post, Lilguy. Another thing about TBN: Sometimes it takes a bit to get a response. Lots of old men here- like me.:D

Woods has orange BHs and subframe kits made to fit specific tractors. Unique part #
for the older L series Kubota. 7500.00
for complete unit with bucket and rear PTO
pump unit. 8 hours shop time to set up.
To purchase a tractor with the bulk of the L
would cost 30k plus. I can do the BH and get a new Z turn mower for under 20k.

in many of my posts of folks looking for a new tractor... i will put in something like....

FEL, tractor, CAB, 3pt hitch backhoe with subframe.... if you buy them all at once on same bill. you will more likely get a bigger discount overall vs buying stuff separately, that and these items tend to be more tractor specific, and normally are higher ticket / dollar items. vs many other things out there that can tend be bought via third party for much less.

backhoes are not cheap... hydraulic cylinders, all the valves, pipes, hoses, fittings, alone quickly add up, then comes in actual cost of the metal for the actual backhoe and outriggers. as much as i want to say it is marketing and cranking up the cost. they are simply a costly little thing to build and make.
