Good morning!!!!

Hope everyone is having a fine day. Those in the south, stay cool if you can.

Up at the crack of 9 here. Stained a couple doors that I had in the garage from sometime last fall to do. All part of getting the garage cleaned out.

Every Labor day, since I built my house 18 yrs ago, I have hosted a Labor Day picnic for my church, and neighbors. I grill burgers, brats, chicken and dogs, and they bring sides. The food is set up in the garage, so it won't draw the flies if it was outside. Plus I have a window unit AC in there. This arrangement also forces me to get the garage cleaned out before winter, so there is actually room to park in it. I have a volleyball court in the back yard, and people also bring corn hole and other games to play. Always a fun time. First year I did it I had over 100 people, now it's usually 40 to 50.

Heading in to Lowes soon to pick up a couple things.

Larro, Kyle, I still love my old school Advent Large speakers.
A breakthrough speaker, but I'd call it new school, one of the first modern speakers to challenge the old school
of Wharfdale, Klipsch, EV, JBL, Infinity and even Bose. Advent brought deep bass to the masses in an affordable speaker.
And boy they sold a bunch of them. (owned an electronics/hifi store for 5 years, followed stereo since 60's).
Polk and many others followed.
Actually I'd say KLH preceded Advent; remember all those KLH combo units?

73 this morning and headed to 90 today. Just killing time till I have to go to my sisters. Her daughter 2nd birthday party is today. Atleast she moved closer to home. If she was still 3 hours away I wouldn't be leaving birds. She now lives about 45 minutes away. So I'll go. We have two larger cities about 45 minutes north and south. She's in the southern city. We go fairly often to one of those for shopping. Closest Lowes and Home Depots and malls. Stores of that nature. Things that just wouldn't survive here.

Drew good luck on boat.

you are showing your age you old Texas hippy.

Naah, I was too young in the 60's and I couldn't qualify in the 70s - didn't you have to be a dope head and go to UT Austin to be a Texas hippy?

I just discovered "Doctor Who" last year on NetFlix and watch the last 7 seasons (2005-2014)

My favorite shows were Bonanza, Mission Impossible, Leave it to Beaver, Andy of Mayberry, Tarzan, Cadet Don, and Kitirik

RNG, you are the only person who can make me look like a man of few words...:D
We both must have taken the same typing class

I think I would have noticed you, Drew. I was the only guy in the whole class, and so long ago I can't remember what grade it was. Certainly before I thought there was any advantage to being surrounded by a room full of women!

New school then, old school now. EPI was another one to break the rules with great results.

But since I upgraded the receiver in the garage, I just can't get over how those tiny Klipsch outdoor speakers on the back porch put out so much bass! Nothing like that was around way back then!

Pulled the cutter off the tractor and hooked up the finishing mower
Done mowing the lawn (with the Deere 920)...might start mowing (with the RFM) the field later today.
But now....time for a nap!

Wngsprd, I think I am rocked out for this summer. I can quit anytime I want to. :D

You may joke about it Dave, but we are not convinced. Ok, we know you aren't thieving to feed your habit, but that's not the issue. It's the long term damage to your tractor that we worry about.

We all thought you were at a turning point when you came out and admitted to using rocks for self multilation, but you just can't leave them alone.

Listen to yourself, "rebuilding the rock wall", "reclaiming a long-lost field" - yeh right, it's any plausible excuse to do rocks. We all think you need a break. Leave the rocks alone, don't even think about them, think "sand" for a while.

(Psst RNG - perhaps best for Dave if you leave out the heavy rock when you next do a music review)

(Psst TxDon - I know a lot of those old tv programs. Good job you didn't mention the Flintstones to Dave, I think that may be where it all started)

I was obsessed with hi-fi in my early teens too. Didn't have much money, so I made my own speaker cabinets in woodwork at school. Wharfedale speakers with parasitic cones, because I couldn't
afford the tweeters. My first stereo amp was 2 mono valve radio amps. Some still say valves are best - not me, I got zapped plenty of times playing with valves but never once with transistors.
