One night of roudyness leads to cops coming every night

So troopers in Pa. answer complaints about people who don't maintain their property? Really hard to believe.

In PA, municipalities which do not have their own police force, can contract with the state police to patrol and respond to calls.

The OP mentioned that he had been visited by local cops.

The question is whether local police, sheriff's departments, and/or state troopers have anything to do with enforcing regulations regarding property maintenance.

I'm not saying that they don't, but I have never heard of such a thing.

...in PA only State Troopers are allowed to have use of radar guns to enforce speeding violations...therefore the only real speeding enforcement is done by State troopers,
Not true where I live. Local police might not be able to use radar, but they use VASCAR and the tickets they give out are real.

The state police don't patrol looking for unkempt properties, but if they receive a call about it, they respond.

I am not familiar with this VASCAR it may be similar to what our local cops "try" and use here which is a laser system that sits on a tripod on the ground and a wire runs a short distance back to the cop car that tells him the speed of the vehicle...this generally requires two cops to be present to use this system...which 9 out of 10 times, they dont bother with doing...one cop tried to use the system himself...got himself a speeder...went back and all his equiptment is gone...cause a big uproar cause he just lost "thousands" of tax payer dollars worth of equipment

Oh and they are trying real hard to be able to put radar guns in local cops hands...it wont be long before it happens

Here the State Police, Sheriff and City Police all hang out at the City Police station. Small town thing, I have done work at the station and sat and listened to them while working. They work well together. It might have been that a State Trooper listened to what was going on and offered to go on the next call and use some diplomacy.

Monster318, are you inside city limits?

I am on the outskirts of actual Stroudsburg, I live in what they call Stroud Township. The rules and ordinances are more laid back in the township....In actual Stroudsburg Borough, they have alot more of ordinances, grass cut height, amount of vehicles allowed at a certain property, where those vehicles can be parked etc and they enforce them proudly...The township might have the same rules but arent enforced the way the Borough does.

This thread sure took an interesting twist My Dad is 77 and my wife and I fear he has "Old timers". My stepmom doesn't seem like she wants to address it and
I have to decide to push it. It's early in his case... I hate the thought of losing him.

Just like I believe any neighbor should try and do before calling in a LEO....

I couldn't agree more. I feel like the cops should be an absolute last choice and not to fight every petty little disagreement.

That sounds good, but really isn't the best idea unless you know the person well. Even LEO's run a risk... which is why they're starting to have cameras.

It's not something they can cure -yet- but there are ways to slow down the disease once it's diagnosed. There are meds that help for a while, and staying active also is good.
My father was diagnosed in 2008, and he's just getting to the point where it curtails him.
What hurt him was when my brother died earlier this year, and losing his license a few months later.
Now some want to take his ATV away that he uses to get around the property; I've drawn a line in the sand against that happening.

My grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease over a year ago...he is on medicine to slow it down, they estimate it will be about 4 years from when he was diagnosed till he starts to get real bad. But recently his memory is slipping pretty good, and gets confused easily, he still works his part time job delievering auto parts, but I am not sure how much longer he will be able to do that. He tries hard to be able to do all the things he used to be able to do, but its hard for him. I live a mile down the road from the grandparents, so I am slowly taking over the role of groundskeeper/ house maintainer
