73 going up into low 80's today with rain coming in this afternoon.
Strange, I can't log into my email on Outlook, says a server is down. Microsoft, are you paying attention?...

Am curious to see how the market reacts to China devaluing their currency. That would make their products even cheaper, right? About 2%, we shall see. Maybe Harbor Freight will offer some special "currency devaluation" deals...

have some errands to run this morning, not much planned. If my helper shows up today, he can weedeat the driveway for the whole time. I have to wait for a dry spell to put down the Roundup. And I really do need to water the trees. I'm adding two gallons and Larro is adding 20. I guess I should up my game...

I'm with you vts, but have you any tips on how to do it ? Anyone can simply put things off for another day, but it takes real skill to actually persuade your wife, or yourself, that it's actually better to do it tomorrow than today.

A few years back I was getting worried that my previously unlimited supply of plausible excuses was running low, then came the aging body and now I'm finding a whole new set to go at, it's a revelation. :)
Oh no !! I'm not going to put any of my methods out on the net. Somebody would surly get them back to her and there I'd be,nose pressed firmly on the Honey do grind stone. You're on your own as much as I'd like to help you and the rest of TBN.
The well seasoned body does give up a whole new set of excuses. I used the pinched nerve in my neck one to accomplish exactly nothing last weekend. :D

70 and cloudy, going to 84.

Finally got the rain we need - .53 inches...that'll do for a while. I knew if I hand carried gallons of water to my apples yesterday it would rain...trick worked. Can't drive all the way to them...planted them in an area I cleared by hand on a slope behind some lespedeza and partridge pea I planted years ago for quail.

Roy, good news on the toe...wear good supportive shoes.

Good morning! With the wind from the North our temps dropped to the low 70s and we are only heading to 101˚ today! 104˚ was tough yesterday.

I spent most of the day driving the vacuum cleaner to the repair shop. I called Dyson and the said they don't send UPS labels I have to go to a UPS store to pick the shipping label up - in Austin! - Or I should schedule a day and meet UPS when they deliver a label but first I'll have to go to town and find a box etc. . . it was getting complicated so I just drove for and hour and a half (too hot to do anything else) to the repair shop in Georgetown TX. Luckily the guy said he could fix it while I wait so today I have lost my excuse not to vacuum. My wife is still going through therapy to loosen up her stiff arm/hand - her cast is off! Maybe in a few weeks her grasp will return so she can take-on the inside work load.

While we were in Georgetown we drove though the Dell development - Sun City. A definite option to rural living for active seniors with 104 different clubs to join. There was even a restaurant that had vegan options just 7 minutes away. Everything was minutes away instead of hours away. It gets one to thinking in these dog days of August when it's too hot to enjoy rural living. Of course an ac cab tractor would be nice also - not so much for the heat but the itchy dust.

73 this morning and headed to 87 today. Rain didn't make it to us and the front is already past. So in guessing it's a no go. By the sounds of the national forecasters Roy might have to canoe to work this week. :)

Managed to get half my mowing done yesterday. So I'll finish that today. Then maybe some bushhoging. Have to pickup boy from daycare and take him for a hair cut.

61F @ 6:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 89F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Roy, great news on the toe! Maybe it's time for a second opinion?

No wonder you've been so quiet RS. Really got your hands full with the landscaping! My first house had downspouts that terminated at the foundation, and the crawlspace flooded every fall and was a lake all winter. As a result the whole house had settled, cracking every door frame and causing gaps under several of the walls. So after fixing the drainage problem, I had to jack up the supporting beams to get everything on same level again, then cut new taller risers down to the supporting piers. Lots of fun in a two foot high crawlspace! Anyway, good you're taking care of this now before even more damage is done!

Here you go, Drew. Looks like the devaluation is giving traders the jitters over the soundness of the Chinese economy, and making it harder to sell US goods there. But the good news is that Google's reorganization will bring more transparency to the company's financial condition, something traders like enough to pay more for. So I'm hoping it's a wash, at least as far as my portfolio is concerned...

Don, glad your wife is doing better. I bet she is, too! I also have a Dyson. What happened to yours? Do they all do that?:confused2: Usta have inlaws that lived in one of those retirement communities. They were constantly tripping over covenants and getting into disputes with neighbors over all the rules. Huge monthly fees, too, almost as bad as paying rent. I guess it's OK as long as you just want to play golf, stick with their programs, and have everything done for you, but I don't think I could ever relax in such a structured environment.

Got the clutch out and main seal replaced on the bike yesterday, and most of the crud scraped off the tranny. Still a little more clean up to do, but I hope to get the drive train back together by the end of the day. Got the spraying done yesterday morning, too, and it's good to be able to get the sprayer off the back of the RTV. But now there's one less excuse for getting the hedge clippers out and going after my landscaping chores. Fortunately there is expert advise here for extending the procrastination:laughing:

Drove threw that area when we left your place last year. Seemed like we drove for miles to get out of the project. My thoughts, way to many seniors in one area. Look for shortages of things/services that seniors need. :confused2:
