We got 2 inches of rain on Friday that was predicted accurately. Then the L\local weather forecasters over the weekend predicted rain for Saturday with a 100% chance of it for 3pm. No rain all day. 70% chance for rain at 6 pm on Sunday, nothing happened. 20% chance of rain yesterday and we had a light shower that barely settled the dust. Zero percent chance of rain for the rest of the week. It's raining so hard now that roads are closed, power is out, trees have fallen and blocked roads and I'm refusing to leave the house until it passes.

So out of the last five days with some very big predictions, they got it right once. If I was to guess, I would say that this is pretty close to their average accuracy in predicting the weather. Anything farther out then a week is just a guess.

Wow, I have never seen predictions being that wrong, and yet only over the period of one day!

We see predictions three or four days out being wrong quite a bit but the very next day is quite unusual.

One thing that works very well for me, is to look at the radar. It tends to let me know quite accurately what is going to be happening.

Watching the birds and other critters is a pretty good indication of future weather.
The activity at our bird feeders always peaks B/4 a major weather event.

I live in an are where we have two types of systems. Those that come across from a distance that are usually fronts, or lines on the radar. You can see them coming from a distance with several hours warning. Then we have the pop up cells that originate right hear. Half of the storms just pop up out of nowhere, dump a bunch of rain and either disappear or form up into big fronts that head East and hit a lot of you guys. It's always amazing to me how many storms start right hear and then move across the country. I'm in the area where the moisture from the gulf hits the jet stream from the North that creates strong thunder storms. I don't know if that's why accuracy is so bad, or it's just forecasting in general. It's not uncommon to get a huge rain on days that none is forecast, or it's just ten to 20 percent chance of rain.

We have above average rain here. Between April and July only a few dry days and less sunshine. Still have not broken very many records that were set 50 to 100 years ago.

The planet has been on a warm up since the last ice age. Space probes have recorded an increase in temps on Mars since the first recordings from the seventies. Guess those probes are contributing.

yeh and the guy on the radio or tv can't even stick there head out the window to see if it's raining or the sun is out

Had a forecaster here state (month ago) it would be dry today during his 6 a.m. forecast. At noon comes on and state now we can expect .5 to 1" of rain this evening. Got a sprinkle.

3) Fortune Teller / Psychic / Card Reader (actually, this is just a guess on my part - I've never actually been to one but they always seem to be located in the seedier parts of town. If they're so smart, you'd think they'd make enough $$$$ to be in a better part of town :laughing
