Most definitely. Do not trust retailers when get say they add No.1 or additives. Ask me how I know.

I use it religiously (Power Service or Diesel Treat). My dealer "strongly encouraged" me to use it, explaining how they had a delivery of tractors from CIH that they could not unload. They were all gelled.

I use Power Service year round as cheap insurance. I get my off-road diesel at a local store here in town. Probably low turn over in their stock. The added benefits of cetaine boost and lube for the pump and injectors worth the little cost. No issues in 1350 hours of use.

Use StaBil in the gas for insurance as well. Very low usage of gas so it sits for awhile.

My tractor also sleeps in a 45* garage and I use Power Service additive year round. My fuel storage tank is outside and it gets cold. Cheap insurance to use it.

Projecting TN weather related experiences to Upstate NY won't help the OP.

I use an anti-gel from October on. I've had fuel problems in winter before, they are no fun. If I can prevent trouble with a small investment and effort you can bet I will.

-30F is a regular occurrance here, and -40F was far too common last winter. In a word? Brutal. It was simply brutal. A splash of Power Service or similar, in addition to fresh, winter blended fuel, a block heater and common sense and all will be well. Harder to sometimes find that last ingredient these days it seems.

I NEVER add anything to my fuel. Buy good fuel to begin with and you won't need to add anything.

The fuel stations I deal with, sell quite a bit of diesel, and sell winterized fuel in the cold months. I've NEVER got bad fuel from any of them.
