Does anyone use or know anything about a diesel fuel additive called AVIEX ? The label says much the same as Power Service and it smells about the same too. $3. a gallon? Any thoughts?

Looks like Power Service, smells like Power Service, gee why not pay the $5 for Power Service. Let's see, at 100 gallons per container, I'm not sure I'll ever use a gallon, even if its $3. Power Service works. I started my Mahindra 6000 this morning in 'teen degrees". Fired up on the 2nd revolution. Just my opinion. I don't mind spending a couple bucks extra for good oil either. Oh, just noticed you have a D15. Is it Diesel or gas? I always wanted the Series II or III (the one with the 3 point hitch). Great Tractors. What year is it? I re-read my last post and it seemed to come across a tad terse. Didn't mean it that way. Just trying to make a point. BobG in VA

Hi Bob
No problem. I appreciate straight ansewers. I've never seen PS around here @ $5 per gallon. Did see the AVIEX @ $3 and well sometimes there is a silver lining. Rarely I must admit. Yes I have a D15. It's my "real" tractor! It is a 1964. I have had it for 15 years and it will probably still be going after I'm gone. I'm actually glad it is not a diesel. My family farmed with both gas and diesel and I for one appreciate the simplicity of gas. No fuel problems and easy starts. The old Allis starts instantly at 10 below and the drive gets plowed before the diesel warms up. The older I get the sweeter the simple things are.....Thanks for your reply.

I meant the PS at $5 for the regular quart (or so) container of PS. It will do 100 gallons of diesel. Yeah, something to be said for simplicity. I've got a couple of 50s era Farmalls (gas as well). I started the old '52 Super C with the hand crank that same cold morning. ONE pull and it was running. Still on 6 volt. My Farmall 230 (updated '57 version of the Super C) is on 12 volt and is a strong runner as well. Just put a new rear tire on yesterday as a matter of fact. Not a fun job on a 36" rim. BobG in VA

If memory serves me right that tractor has a magneto, so the 6v is moot. It should start even without a battery.
As good as the new tractors are I sure wish they had that reliable simplicity of some of the old iron.
