A D3 weighs 18,000 pounds. Even if the weight was equal steel tracks will push harder than rubber. For real grading work a dozer will eat a SS's lunch. No offense, but you probably are not a good dozer operator. I suck at using a dozer too, but that doesn't make a SS faster. An 18,000 pound dozer VS a 10,000 SS doing grading work is no contest. Now if the contest was to load a dump truck with dirt the SS is a clear winner.
Moving trees, and grading dirt are totally different jobs. A dozer sucks at moving things a long distance, but that wasn't mentioned in the op's criteria. I will agree that a SS is far more versatile, but this argument was a Tl 150 against a D3 grading dirt.I can hold my own on a dozer but you must not have seen a good operator on a tl 150. We pulled up on a job where we had to move a bunch of 90 to 100 foot tall pines the trackhoe operator laughed at first but then came over and apolgized he said that machine really impressed him. to the OP buy what you want but remember rubber tracts can be driven on pavement
Why are these deals always on the far side of the moon?
I'm with you! The 450 is right at 10K and if you run it against the other small dozers here, it will push a lot more dirt!I'm with the guys that are recommending a case 450. They are great little machines and easy to move.

That's important if you want to get something done, and still not have, too heavy of a dozer to move.
