Recently I had my first two problems with my Bobcat
first was a hydraulic leak on the FEL loader joystick control valve, which when I have more time I will detail completely, but for now on to my second more pressing issue

During the summer I started a dirt moving project and used a tank full of fuel.
It seemed to go down at its normal rate, when I felt like it was due for a fill up I went and purchased my normal 5 gallons
I put it in, and started the tractor and to my surprise I still had an empty tank on the gauge.

Again I used (by hours what I assumed would be about 5 gallons) filled up my can again, and she is still showing empty

Anyone have similar issues, and know where I should start in troubleshooting it?

Fuel gauges are pretty simple, a meter (the gauge) wiring, a variable resistor and a float and the source of voltage. Break out the VOM and start checking. Should not be too bad.

Is there a fuse for the gauge?

Hopefully this will help a bit. Yes the 7.5 amp fuse, that runs the gauge cluster for every thing else. Does the temp gauge work? If so this fuse is not blown, Does the 4wd lamp light? if so this fuse is good. Be sure to check ground wire on the fuel sender too. The F/G is the fuel gauge You can see that there is a voltage coming in from the top of the fuel gauge from the fused buss, then a series circuit thru the sensor variable resistor to ground.

yea, everything else on the guage cluster seems to be working
I haven't had a chance to look for my VOM yet, and knowing me it could be most anywhere........

Your float is probably sticking. Either pull the unit and free it up or you can try using a bent piece of wire and wiggle it around and free it. It happens to me about once a year when i run the tank really low.

I was wondering if it could be as simple as something like this, but was afraid if I tried I may screw up the float.
I will give this a shot first
