Why can't they make something that can be operated in the manner you've done for 50 years? They are using the science they used on over the road vehicles on slow moving tractors, many of which are not operated at high rpms, like going down the highway. They need to come up with a better solution.

Abolish the EPA.. tell California the emision standards they want will make everything made for use in that state will cost twice as much as everywhere else.. leave the rest of us alone... as for global warming, how many internal combustion engines were used by the dinosaurs when the entire globe was much hotter????.. bah@#!$

You missed the point. JC is talking about continuous high load maintained over an extended duration of time. He also raised the point that there is a long line of chickens that think operating an engine at redline will make it blowup.

With utility tractors you don't use them at redline. I'm off/on my tractor a lot, and it sits at idle as I hook up equipment, adjust things, mowing in tight areas. Field tractor, different story, but no like the typical small acreage tractor. On my mower...near WOT, but not my tractor.

A short time ago there was a whole line of CUT users here that swore on their Mother's Honour. That they worked their CUT tractors just as long and hard as a large field tractor ?

Mahindra and others like Massey Ferguson, kubota etc are now using EGR and DOC catalyst. The DIesel Oxidation Catalyst cleans up the exhaust soot similar to catalytic converter in your gas powered cars and trucks. They will fail and clog. The EGR DOC route is not as clean as the DPF route. Some companies have put fear into people saying that your barn will burn down if you put a tractor with a DPF in it. The DPF is under the hood with heat shielding around it. It has no more heat than a regular exhaust pipe. I have had a diesel car with a DPF since 2009, no problem parking it in my garage, even if I interrupt a regen. I have had zero DPF issues.
