Good morning all.
For a few years now I have promised my wife I would turn the old and now roofless 5 bay cattle shed into a walled garden. It went slightly astray last year when she wanted the soil improving. While a big excavator was here, I had the top 2 feet of dirt removed and stacked in the field, ready to be replaced by lots of well rotted farmyard manure. I thought she would be pleased, but it turned out I have a typical man brain, with virtually no telepathic ability. It wasn't what she had in mind at all - she wanted all the soil back again, with raised beds on top. After being married for 38 years, at least I know when not to ask "why didn't you say ..."
So last winter I set to bringing back the soil, with a scoop on the 3 point link of the fergie. Hard work when the soil is full of stone, requiring it all to be hand shovelled into the scoop. Then winter turned wetter and gave me the excuse I needed to stop, not even half way through.
Each time you all mention your gardens I feel guilty at not finishing this off, so with the old battered brick wall finally rendered and painted, it was time I got on with the job again. Yesterday I set to get back to that blank canvas, though this time with a loader and bucket, the Iseki did all the hard work in return for a good drink of diesel.

[Iseki didn't want to come over as all smug and offend the old fergie, so declined to be included in the picture]
Now I need to find out some more about constructing the raised beds. Only stipulation from the boss is that they must be made from timber and have good paths between.
