Wait till you have to replace the flex-fuel sensor.... ouch!

Maybe not so much an "ouch". Found the sensor in a web search for $100 and free shipping. In the broad scheme of things, $100 is not really a big ouch.

Right, I wouldn't hold that against the truck.

One thing I didn't mention just running back and forth to town here a few mile to the coffee shop I can gain 60 miles on 3/4 of a tank which is usually when I fill up if I just take it easy on take offs and acceleration once on the highway . Summer the mileage is better than winter but I'd guess 12 mpg would be the agv. on just short runs.

That's good to know if it happens to us again out of warranty. Thanks.

And I think that is why, generally, I get some decent mpg from my 2500. Nothing stellar, but not bad. It has averaged 14 mpg for all miles on the pickup. Highway road trips generally are in the 17-18 mpg range. I long since outgrew the need to use traffic signals as my own personal NHRA Christmas Tree starting lights, I have long since adapted to using long distance road viewing and adjusting my speeds and slow downs well in advance, etc. Unlike many others on the road, I have never felt the need to race around everyone just so I could be the first one down the exit ramp. That one is just about the stupidest thing I see on a daily basis. Flooring it and racing around everyone just to have to get on the brakes, slow down, and stop. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb. And generally, the pickup drivers are just as bad about that as the car drivers. Probably a lot of my way of driving comes from my commercial semi driving. Fuel is the primary concern and greatest operating cost with that one. I don't drive around at 55 mph holding up traffic, but I do not try to drive my 2500 like it is a sports car and am trying to impress the high school girls. That is for the younger crowd to do.
